David and Linda Littlefield Scholarship Application

The David and Linda Littlefield Scholarship was established by their son, Matthew Littlefield ’99 to honor his parents and to support Commonwealth Honors College students study abroad experience. Littlefield participated in the Oxford Summer Seminar and a study abroad program in Mexico as a student at UMass Amherst.

University of Massachusetts Amherst Commonwealth Honors College members in their first, second or third year of study are eligible to apply for the David and Linda Littlefield Scholarship, and will receive the scholarship the following year (during the sophomore, junior, or senior year). This scholarship was endowed by an honors alumnus and consists of a one-time grant that is applied directly toward the student’s tuition and fees. The scholarship committee will confirm the candidate’s study abroad plans with the International Programs Office.

The amount of the scholarship varies from year to year depending on endowment earnings. In 2016 the award will be approximately $500 and will be applied to the recipient’s Fall 2016/Spring 2017 tuition and fees. To apply, students must submit a “David and Linda Littlefield Scholarship Application” accompanied by a typed one-page essay discussing their educational and career goals and how their study abroad experience will help them achieve those goals.

The application deadline is Monday, February29, 2016, 5:00 p.m. to the Commonwealth Honors College office, Room 301, Amherst, MA 01003-9253.

The awards will be announced in early April and recipients will be invited to the Commonwealth Honors College spring awards ceremony scheduled for April 15, 2016.
