We are currently in the midst of our 5th annual Tent Sale at New Balance Cherry Hill. Beginning last year, we invited the Komen Group to come out to the Sale and sell hot dogs, soft drinks, baked goods, etc to help with their fundraising. These walkers are extremely dedicated. During these tough times, they have been having a roughgo of itraising funds for the walk. We provide the food and drinks and they sell and keep the proceeds for their walk. These people are an inspiration to us and we enjoy doing our little bit to help them out.

1123 Supply Update – NB Stores
Most of you are aware that the 1123 has recently had considerable supply challenges. We have been working closely with the Allocation, Demand Planning and Supply teams to minimize the disruption in business for NB Stores including:
-NB Stores have been given top priority to 1123 supply currently in our system
-An NB Store contract has been entered to protect the incoming supply as it arrives from the Skowhegan factory
-The Team in Skowhegan, ME that makes the 1123 is working overtime on Saturdays in July exclusively building 1123’s
-This team is also working during the scheduled Factory Shutdown (first two weeks of August) to build 1123’s
Even with all of these efforts, the open stock supply on the 1123 will continue to be a challenge over the next four weeks. You will begin to see improvements in availability beginning in mid August and there will be continued pressure through September.
We apologize for the impact this shortage has had on your business and we look forward to getting back in stock as quickly as we can.
Aneka Collection
The Aneka collection (WW885 & WW835) for Q112 has been cancelled in North America. While the collection is innovative and capitalizes on consumer insights and market trends, its unique product and positioning would require marketing to educate consumers and ensure success. The Aneka collection will launch as planned in Q112 in our international markets due to an overwhelmingly positive response. We remain committed to our Wellness product offering and will continue to grow and expand this business by building upon the base and developing and delivering unique and innovative product stories to grow our market share.

Medical Marketing Advisory Board Chair
Within our New Balance Licensee Stores we have a number (8) of “dedicated” medical marketing associates that handle daily outreach and tracking for their Licensee. These dedicated folks know the inner workings of Foot Health, how to successfully partner with leading medical professionals and create the transactional referral with positive results.
Because they are so good at what they do and are the closest associates to the Dr and End consumer, Paul and I chose this group to be our Medical Marketing Advisory Team. We conducted our 1st mtg on the 23rd of May with plans to meet every qtr on best practices’ and general program initiatives. These 8 people will be our “go-to” team and act as a “filter” for Assortment Reviews, Marketing Collateral and In Step communications to name a few. They’re very passionate about giving honest opinions and learning from one another.
Since our first conference call in May, John Strojny approached me on the NBAB’s decision to break Medical Marketing away from the general marketing committee. As a result of the 2 independent activities, we joined forces and nominated (and she accepted) Kate Van Digglen, owner of NB Crystal Lake, as the Medical Marketing Chairperson. This nomination will allow the NBAB to gain valuable visibility on what our Committee is up to and provide leadership for this important endeavor. Katie is extremely enthusiastic about her referral business and her close relationships with her medical professionals. On behalf of the NB store owners, Paul and I, as well as the newly created Advisory Team, welcome Katie to the helm and look forward to her valuable contributions/leadership.
Trade Shows
It was great seeing so many of you at the NBO meeting. The medical marketing tracks were well attended and some valuable sharing too place. There are a number of different ways to reach out to your local medical professionals as we discussed. One way that provides a large audience all at once is by attending a local trade show or health fair.
Hal of NB South Coast Plaza attended a regional podiatry show in Anahiem California earlier this month. There were close to 1000 podiatrist in attendance and the hall was busy. Hal set up the NB 10 foot trade show booth that is offered through procarefit.com for every Procare dealer to borrow. The booth has shelving that holds a dozen half pair of shoes and a branded back drop with a runner along with a Procare message. Hal had great success at this show and attends every year. I’ve attached his recap in his own words of how valuable he perceives this show to be to the growth of his medical marketing referral business.

I wanted to thank you for supporting the Western Foot & Ankle Conference. The show was a big success for us. I used the new Procare display and shoe shelf and they looked great and very professional. We sold shoes and took special orders for doctors. I brought in size runs in both genders for the 860 running shoe.We did $2,000 plus in sales but this was really a relationship building venue. I went through 500 catalogs, 500 New Balance coupons, and over 1,000 Snail Bucks for our running stores. We developed some new doctor contacts and visited with our core group of referring doctors.This show reinforced to me the importance of medical marketing for our company. Brooks, Super Feet, Power Step, Aetrex all had booths at the show.

New Balance Store Uniform Program
It’s been approximately one year since we successfully launched the New Balance Store Uniform Program! Since that time, we have added many stores. I wanted to send a reminder for those new to the program, as well as, for those that would now like to participate.
The program guidelines and ordering instructions can be found on the website: You should already have your login information. Please contact your Account Services Representative with any questions concerning your login information.
Points to remember:
  • Currently this program is only available in the USA.
  • There is a 12 unit minimum for each order – styles and sizes can be mixed.
  • The cost will be paid through your LBB funds. Once the order is placed, an email will be sent to New Balance for approval. Once approved, your ordered will be processed.
  • You will have the option to have your store name embroidered on the shirt. If you choose this option, please follow the instructions outlined on the website. The costs associated with these items are the same, whether embroidered or not.
  • Please note that this website is also used for miscellaneous store supply items (shoe forms, plexis, etc.). Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with this component as there have been some changes since it was first introduced.
