CUNDALL ART SCHOLARSHIP

Cundall Art Scholarship funds are provided by The Cundall Trust Fund managed by the Colorado National Bank of Longmont. The Scholarship funds are intended for the purpose of assisting worthy art students in the further development of their artistic talents. The minimum scholarship award will be $500.00, the maximum award will be $3,000.00. Trustee shall not be bound by any geographic or education level limitations. This application form is designed to accommodate high school seniors who plan to major or minor in Art in college.

MUST SUBMIT FAMILY INCOME OR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE REVIEWED.

Important Dates to Remember

1.Monday, February 29, 2016: The deadline for receiving applications. Students are to forward the completed application, copy of transcripts (none-official), with 2 letters of recommendation (One by an Art Teacher) to Your Schools Counseling Office in a manila envelope with your name and school on the front. All applications will be sent to and processed by Marilyn Treharne and then sent to the Chairman Mike Merz at Longmont High School to be reviewed by a panel of art teachers.

Applications received after this date will NOT be considered.

2.Wednesday March 16th: The portfolio deadline. Please submit one MATTED piece of original artwork and 10 on a CD in Power Point Slide Format (See Details in Checklist. (jpegs please!) to your art teacher or drop it off directly at Longmont High School by 3:30pm to the attention of Mr. Merz. Please put CD in manila envelope and attach it to your actual piece of artwork. NEW- ADD A VOICE RECORDING OF YOUR ESSAYIN POWERPOINT!!

3.Friday March 18h: Art Teacher Committee will assemble at Longmont High School, Community Room, at 4:00pm to review and evaluate each application and portfolio. The committee will identify the recipients and establish the amount of funding for each scholarship recipient. Funding for each scholarship will be based part on the total dollar amount received from the Colorado National Bank, in conjunction with guidelines for the distribution of Cundall in Trust Fund.

4. Monday March 21st: On or near this date, the district Fine Arts Office will notify all applicants regarding recommendations for scholarship funding. Information will be forwarded to the Daily Times Call for recognition.

5.Thursday March 24th: Last day to pick up original art pieces and CD portfolio.

6.The Following Aug./Sept.: The St. Vrain Valley School District will prepare purchase orders to have scholarship funds mailed directly to the Financial Aid Offices of the appropriate colleges or universities. Enrollment at the college or university must be confirmed prior to mailing funds.

APPLICANT CHECKLIST

2. OBTAIN A NON OFFICIAL COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS FROM YOUR SCHOOL.

3. 2 LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION (ONE FROM AN ART TEACHER). MUST SUBMIT OR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE REVIEWED.

4. MAKE A POWER POINT PRESENTION OF YOUR ARTWORK:

Include 10 pieces of your top pieces of art work including your best MATTED piece that you will be actually submitting. The First Slide should have your name and school in Arial or Times Roman Font on a neutral background. Second slide should have your 300 word personal essay with a neutral background. NEW- ADD A VOICE RECORDING OF YOUR ESSAYIN POWERPOINT!! Easy to record: click the icon in powerpoint with the film strip and speaker and just read your essay into the microphone.

The following 10 slides should contain only one image on a neutral background (Black, White or Grey) labeled with Name, Medium, Dimensions (Size) and Date of completion in Arial or Times New Roman Font. Please nicely crop each picture and have all information at the bottom of each picture. PLEASE REVIEW POWERPOINT ON MULTIPLE COMPUTERS TO MAKE SURE IT OPENS. PLEASE SAVE YOUR POWER PT AND LABEL YOUR CD WITH NAME AND SCHOOL.

5. PERSONAL ESSAY:

On your second slide of your Power Point Presentation write a 300 word essay that answers the following questions.NEW- ADD A VOICE RECORDING OF YOUR ESSAYIN POWERPOINT!! Easy to record: click the icon in PowerPoint with the film strip and speaker and just read your essay into the microphone.

  • What role does art play in your life?
  • Describe why you are applying for this scholarship. Include any unusual family, personal or economic circumstances or responsibilities associated with your family which will support this application
  • Why did you select the work you submitted for your Portfolio?
  • How do you hope people will react when they look at your work?

6. CERTIFICATION AND AUTHORIZATION:

7. TURN IN APPLICATION:

PLEASE PUT APPLICATION, COPY OF TRANSCRIPT AND 2 LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION (ONE FROM AN ART TEACHER) INTO A MANILA FOLDER WITH YOUR FULL NAME AND SCHOOL AND TURN INTO YOUR COUNSELOR TO GIVE TO MARILYN TREHARNE BY FEBRUARY 29, 2016.

8. TURN IN POWER POINT SLIDE PRESENTATION AND ACTUAL MATTED PIECE:

TURN IN YOUR BEST ACTUAL PIECE OF ARTWORK (ONLY 1) WITH A COPY OF YOUR SLIDE SHOW PRESENTATION. PLEASE WRITE YOUR NAME AND SCHOOL AND ATTENTION TO MR. MERZ ON YOUR ACTUAL MATTED PIECE OF ARTWORK, ON THE CD AND COVER WITH PERMANENT MARKERNO later THAN WEDNESDAY MARCH 16TH AT 3:30 PM . Please also label your file last_First name.
