/ DEBATING / Teacher in Charge:
Mr McCarthy
Debating involves public speaking, research and preparation of an argument. It also involves witty retorts and a fierce competitive spirit. Teams compete in inter-school debates and also a Christchurch schools’ competition, overseen by the Canterbury University debating society. Two regional competitions are also competed in; The Press Senior Championship for Y12 and 13s, and The Press Intermediate Championship for Y10 and Y11 students. A meeting will be held early in Term 1 so if you think that you can argue, persuade and speak in front of others while having some fun, then come and check this activity out. / Subscription / Approximate Cost:

The school has had a great history of producing very high quality productions, such as’ West Side Story’ in 2010, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ in 2008 both with Christchurch Girls High and recently ‘Lord of the Flies’. The productions are very time consuming but are a great experience to be part of. There are opportunities for actors, technical and musicians (during musicals). We are planning a small CBHS/CGHS Drama production for Term 2 2015. / Subscription / Approximate Cost:
