Method of Instruction

This course is presented in asynchronous format via the WebCampus online classroom. All of the instructional materials for this course are contained within the WebCampus classroom and inthe assigned textbook. Instruction includes but is not limited to reading all weekly course announcements; accessing, reviewing and saving uploaded instructional documents; reviewing PowerPoint and/or other presentations; weekly textbook reading and associated quizzes; reading and responding to discussion board posts; and completing written assignments.

Instruction for this course is presented in a weekly format, with the week running from Monday at 12:01 AM until Sunday at 11:59 PM. Each week will automatically open and close at these specific days and times to facilitate uniformity and continuity of instruction. Weeks will not open or close before or after the designated time period.

Graded Components, aka Deliverables

Late work is NOT accepted. All work must be submitted in the online classroom by the posted date and time. WebCampus automatically opens and closes weekly assignments and quizzes based upon the posted dates and times, and will lock the assignment submittal at the close of that time period. Emailed coursework is not accepted. Technical difficulties to include computer and/or internet problems are not accepted as reasons for submitting late work, nor are vacation or travel plans.

Syllabus Quiz: Each learner must download, save, and thoroughly read the entire syllabus document. Learners must then affirm having done so via the associated quiz during week 1 in the WebCampus. Failure to do so will result in an“F” grade for the course.

Quizzes: Quizzes (aka “Exams”) are an integral part of the course and are an important method for evaluating students’ mastery of the assigned course content. All quizzes are chapter specific, non-cumulative, and there is no final cumulative exam. Quizzes typically contain a combination of multiple choice, true/false, and short answer questions.

Written Assignments:Written assignments for this course consist of two different assignments: Essays and Key Terms. Essays provide the learner the opportunity to express in writing concepts that are learned throughout the course. Key terms are included in the course as a means to identify terminology that will be important in the workplace and during future collegiate course work.

All written assignments must be clearly labeled with each student’s name, date, and the week number of the course.

Discussion Board (DB) Posts: DB posts offer a time for students to interact directly regarding important topics. All initial DB posts must be at least one paragraph or more in length, must specifically address the topic of the post, and must contain thoughtful, substantive, and grammatically correct collegiate level writing.

Learners are required to post the initial DB question response by the end of day on Tuesday of each week, and are required to post at least 2 high quality responses to peers’ posts on two separate days of the week. This equates to a total of 3 posts on 3 separate days for the discussion board posts: 1 day for the initial post, and 2 additional separate days for the follow-up responses to peers. This is the minimum requirement.

If for some reason you do not post your initial response to the DB, do NOT skip the entire DB for that week. Points are assigned for each individual post.

NOTE: Although the school week runs Monday through Sunday, assignments are due at various times throughout the school week. It is important to note the specific due dates for each assignment. Do not assume that an assignment is due on the last day of the school week. Carefully review the Course Outline and WebCampusModules for due dates for all assignments.
