Please keep this form until you are contacted by the Humane Society of Lincoln County concerning your application to adopt.

A Humane Society Representative will contact you as soon as possible with the status of your application. However, please remember we are an all volunteer organization with no paid employees. Most of our volunteers hold full time jobs and many are not allowed to make personal calls during normal work hrs. We thank you in advance for your patience and for understanding the length of this approval process depends heavily on your accurate completion of all the application questions and the length of time it takes to us to make contact with a personal reference, property manager and/or Veterinarian.

All information must be and will be verified.

You will be contacted in 1 to 5 working days regarding the status of your application.

All applicants will receive a call, no matter what the decision. During this time we ask that you DO NOT call PetSmart, Petmania, our Headquarters, other HS volunteers, etc…

Your application can only be approved by our Adoption Committee and the pet’s foster home and making additional calls will not speed up this process. None of the merchants or individuals listed above have privy to your Interview Sheet and calling them will only slow the approval process and cause confusion.

During this approval process we ask that you keep in mind our goal is to place our rescues in the home best suited to their size, breed and personality. At times a pet is chosen by an applicant that will just not be suited for their home and lifestyle. Examples are choosing a pet that needs to be an only pet but will not be, choosing a pet that needs to be placed in a multiple pet household when you will only have this particular one, choosing a pet not suitable for homes with children, etc… If/when you choose a pet not ideal for your home and lifestyle, we will not be able to approve your application but a HS representative will work with you to find the perfect pet for your situation. We are able to do this primarily due to the fact we do not own a shelter and all our rescues are kept at the private residents of our volunteers. We care for and observe our rescues daily in a home setting and we keep each animal at least 10 days before presenting them for adoption. We feel this time spent with the rescue enables us to make the best match possible between you and your next pet.

If multiple applications are taken on the same pet the applicant best suited for the pet will be chosen, regardless of the order it was received.

Your application will be verified and approved by our adoption committee AND the pets foster home. The foster home will contact you with the status and make arrangements for you to either finalize the adoption or pick out another pet. In rare circumstances an application cannot be approved for any adoption at all, due to failure to meet some or all of our basic adoption requirements. These requirements were listed on the white “Guidelines and Requirements to Adopt” form you signed at the same time you completed your blue “Interview Sheet”

Thank you again for choosing the Humane Society of Lincoln County.
