LCork City Regatta 2016 – National Rowing Centre, Farran Wood, Co. Cork

Dear Secretary,

Cork City Regatta will be held at the National Rowing Centre in Inniscarra, Farran Wood, Co. Cork on Saturday, 25thand Sunday 26thJune 2016 as part of the Grand League Series.

Please note the sequence of events and make your entry according to the schedule. Also note that this is a 2 day regatta.

The condition of entries is as follows

The regatta is a full status regatta and will take place on the buoyed multi lane course at the National Rowing Centre.

The regatta is being run under Rowing Ireland rules.

Entries can only be accepted through the Rowing Ireland Tracker System.

No entry will be accepted unless accompanied by the appropriate entry fees.

Races will be provided where there are two or more entries from two different clubs for an event.

Cork City Regatta Committee accepts no responsibility for damage occasioned to boats, oars or equipment or for any ruling to competitors, spectators or any other persons for whatever caused at the regatta.

Entries close automatically at 7pm on Wednesday 15thJune and the provisional draw will automatically be on the Rowing Ireland immediately after 7pm.

No entry will be accepted from a club without all rowers being registered with Rowing Ireland. This is a FULL STATUSREGATTA and will be run on a 6 lane course at the National Rowing Centre.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON GRAND LEAGUE REGATTA EVENT - CORK 2016

Medals will be presented for each category that contains two or more boas from two different clubs for an event.

How it works – for example Mens Division 1 sculls will include the flowing categoriesMS 1x, MLW 1x, MU23 1x, M Inter 1x, Club 1 1x and MJ18 1x

All will race 6 boat heats. Boats will be drawn in heats with the fastest perceived boats grouped in the same heats as much as possible. The first heat which will be Heat A will contain the slowest perceived boats and start with the MJ18 1x and so on up.

Please take noted that the Finals will start with Final C, Final B and the then Final A which will be the last race of each event. If a category winner is not in the A, B or C Final it will be the fastest time in that category from the heats which will win the category.

Each lane of each heat will be filled and it is possible that the MS 1x may be racing ML 1x or MU23 1x or M Inter 1x or Club 1 1x or MJ18 1x. This again depends on entries received.

Take note that the fastest six boats will progress into the Final A and the next 6 fastest boats will be in Final B and so on.

There will only be A, B & C finals.

To make Final A you must race your heat as fast as possible as the A Final will be chosen from the fastest 6 times not the position you qualify in; for example you may finish fourth in your heat but still qualify in the fastest six times for the A Final.

Whatever final you are in there are medals for each category winner provided there are two or more boats from two different clubs in each category.

In the event that there are less boats entered than lanes that event will be a straight final.

Take note to use the same boat twice you will need at least a minimum of one hour between each of the races.
