Adam Caplan, Scout.com: He'll earn the following base salaries of: (2008) $295,000 (2009) $385,000 (2010) $470,000 (2011) $555,000 with a signing bonus of around $820,800.

Brad Biggs, Chicago Tribune: The base value of the deal is $15 million. Bennett received a $6 million signing bonus, $1.2 million of which counts against the team’s salary cap this season.

Here are the other details of the contract: 2012: Fully guaranteed base salary of $1 million. Bennett also earns a $500,000 roster bonus in March. There is a $100,000 workout bonus. 2013: $2.25 million base salary of which $1.5 million is guaranteed vs. injury. There is a $100,000 workout bonus. 2014: $2.35 million base salary. There is a $100,000 workout bonus. 2015: $2 million base salary. There is a $100,000 workout bonus. There is also an escalating roster bonus that starts at $500,000, giving the contract a base value of $15 million. Bennett’s 2015 roster bonus can increase by as much as $3 million, making the max value of the contract $18 million.

Here is how the roster bonus works: 1. Bennett can trigger an additional maximum of $3 million if he has three consecutive seasons of 80 receptions and 1,200 yards. Those targets, individually, are worth an additional $500,000 in 2015. So, in 2012, 2013 or 2014, if he has only one season with 80 receptions, he will trigger an additional $500,000. 2. The roster bonus will increase by an additional maximum of $1.65 million if he has three consecutive seasons of 70 receptions and 1,000 yards. 3. The roster bonus will increase by an additional maximum of $600,000 if he has three consecutive seasons of 65 receptions and 850 yards.

Brian McIntyre, MacsFootballBlog.com: By giving the players the right to terminate the contracts, the $6.5 million in signing bonuses for Bennett and Williams were applied to the Bears' 2011 salary cap, increasing Bennett's cap number from $1.405 million to $7.405 million… In order for Bennett to terminate his agreement with the Bears and become an unrestricted free agent, he would be required to repay the team $20 million.

However, the $4 million becomes fully guaranteed after Day 3 of the 2014 league year. So, $9.215 million is fully guaranteed provided Bennett doesn’t give the team a reason to release him.

Mike Florio, PFT: For Benson, the fourth pick who signed on Sunday, the bonus money is $16 million ($4 million to sign, $7.1 million option bonus, $1.44 million roster bonus, and $3.46 million "log" bonus), the guaranteed money is $16 million, and the total package is worth $29.96 million over five years.

John Clayton, ESPN: he could hit escalators that might take his salary to $9.5 million in 2009.

Brad Biggs, Chicago Sun-Times: Benson’s contract contains a conditional injury guarantee for that base pay [$820,000 in 2008] and he could claim his release was due to the broken left leg suffered last November against Denver…. In 2009, Benson’s cap number is $3.535 million, and his base pay climbs to $1,020,000. That base pay includes a partial guarantee of $910,000 in he event of injury, but that’s only for an injury occurring in the prior contract year.

Brad Biggs, Chicago Sun-Times: As far as the guaranteed money totaling $16 million ... Benson never realized that figure because he was that bad on the field. The contract included multiple opportunities for him to trigger two $1.73 million bonuses ($3.46 million total). He finished with 674 yards rushing last season when he broke his left leg/ankle, leaving him 27 yards shy of triggering one of the bonuses.

Bob McGinn, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Benson signed a five-year, $15.56 million deal with Chicago that contained a $4 million signing bonus and a $1.44 million roster bonus.

Brad Biggs, Chicago Sun-Times: Briggs signed his name to a four-year contract with a $690,000 signing bonus.

Brad Biggs, Chicago Sun-Times: The six-year contract for three-time Pro Bowl linebacker Lance Briggs stacks up as it was announced last week with $21.6 million of the $36 million payable in the first three seasons. Briggs’ contract will place him in the top 10 at his position in the league and he will pocket more in 2008 than he did with the $7.206 million franchise tag in 2007… A breakdown of the contract: 2008 $4 million signing bonus $3.75 million roster bonus $805,000 base salary $250,000 workout bonus… 2009 $4.75 million roster bonus $1.1 million base salary $250,000 workout bonus… 2010 $3.3 million roster bonus $3.145 million base salary $250,000 workout bonus… 2011 $3,650,000 base salary $250,000 workout bonus… 2012 $3,750,000 base salary $250,000 workout bonus… 2013 $6,250,000 base salary $250,000 workout bonus…

Mike Florio, PFT: Briggs’ new deal pays $17.5 million over three years, $5 million of which is fully guaranteed. (As a practical matter, another $3.25 million is guaranteed, given that it’s highly unlikely the Bears will cut him this year.) In 2012, Briggs gets $3 million to sign, a $3 million base salary, and a $250,000 workout bonus. That gives him $6.25 million; under his prior deal he would have earned $4 million. Next year, Briggs is due to receive a $1 million roster bonus in June and a $4.5 million base salary, $2 million of which is fully guaranteed. He also is eligible for a $250,000 workout bonus. It’s a payout of $5.75 million. Under the prior deal, he would have earned $6.5 million in non-guaranteed base salary. In 2014, Briggs is due to receive a $500,000 roster bonus in June and a non-guaranteed base salary of $4.75 million. He also is eligible to receive a $25,000 workout bonus.

Biggs: Brown now has a base salary of $950,000 for 2008. The $1.49 million difference can be attained in an unlikely-to-be-earned incentive that is tied to an unknown playing-time lever. If Brown is injured before the season starts, the contract includes a split that would reduce his pay to $320,000.

Brian McIntyre, MacsFootballBlog.com: Bush agreed to a four-year, $14 million contract… the four-year agreement contains $6 million in fully guaranteed money with another $1.45 million that's basically guaranteed, but not officially stated so in the contract. The fully guaranteed (skill, injury and cap) portion of Bush's contract is comprised of a $4 million signing bonus, $900,000 of a $950,000 base salary in 2012 and $1.1 million of a $1.5 million base salary in 2013. Including the non-guaranteed base salary, that's $6.45 million in signing bonus and base salary that Bush is likely to receive over the first two seasons. Bush also has a $1 million roster bonus in 2013 that's non-guaranteed (but like the non-guaranteed portion of his base salary, is likely to be received) and $50,000 workout bonuses in each season that would bring his two-year cash haul to $7.55 million. In 2014 and 2015 Bush's base salaries increase to $2.8 million and $3.55 million with $50,000 workout bonuses available in each season.

John Mullin, Chicago Tribune: Caldwell, 30, is scheduled to earn $4.68 million over four years, $750,000 up front in signing bonus and a $250,000 workout bonus to go with a first-year salary of $650,000.

Gene Chamberlain, Aurora Beacon News: If the Bears cut Caldwell, though, they would not realize a cap savings of his $755,000 salary because the remainder of his prorated $1 million signing bonus would count entirely against the cap this year. Caldwell had a four-year, $4.7 million deal with a $1 million bonus, so about $750,000 would count immediately against the Bears' cap from his bonus. So the Bears would net only about $5,000 against their cap by cutting Caldwell. It would, however, save them paying salaries of $1.01 and $1.2 million to Caldwell the next two years.
