- By entering the competition each competitor agrees to be filmed and further agrees to allow SkyVenture New Hampshire to use the video footage as they wish.
- No camera or video equipment is allowed in the flight chamber or antechamber.
- Training / Practice Flights
- All training / practice flights must take place before the draw. Any team who flies after the draw but before the competition is automatically disqualified.
- Competitors may book tunnel time before the competition directly with the tunnel subject to availability.
- Any team found to be using the remainder of a competition round after the working time is complete to train / practice for upcoming rounds is automatically disqualified.
- Registration will include two, one minute practice rounds for teams to establish their wind speeds.
- Objective
- Teams are awarded points each round by performing a selected sequence of randoms and/or blocks known as the draw. Once this draw has been completed, it should be repeated in its drawn order until the working time has ended.
- Each team shall be allocated 35 seconds working time per round.
- The Intermediate, Advanced and Pro classes of 2-Way VFS will consist of 6 rounds. This can be extended to 8 or 10 rounds if there is enough interest. Rookie will consist of 4 rounds.
- The accumulated total points for all rounds is used to determine the final standing of teams.
- The Draw
- The draw will take place before the start of the competition and will be supervised by the Chief Judge.
- The randoms and blocks as shown in the dive pool will be placed into one container. Each random and block will be drawn from the container, one at a time, without replacement.
- The draw will consist of 5 or 6 points per round for the Pro class, 4 or 5 points per round for the Advanced and 3 or 4 points per round for the Intermediate and Rookie classes. A random constitutes one point and block constitutes two.
- 2-Way VFS Intermediate: Rounds 1-2 will be drawn from the belly/back dive pool, rounds 3-6 from the head-up pool excluding HU-12 (Grip Front Flip Grip will not be part of the Intermediate dive pool.)
- 2-Way VFS Advanced: Rounds 1-2 will be drawn from the belly/back dive pool, rounds 3-6 from the vertical dive pool excluding points marked as PRO (blocks and randoms with both competitors head-down.)
- 2-Way VFS Pro: Rounds 1-2 will be drawn from the belly/back dive pool, rounds 3-6 from the entire vertical dive pool.
- 2-Way VFS Rookie: All rounds will be drawn from the belly/back dive pool.
- The draw will be posted and made available at the time of the Competitors’ Briefing.
- Tunnel Entry Procedure
- 2-Way VFS Advanced and Pro must do door entrances. The clock will start when both of a team member’s feet leave the antechamber floor and enter the wind. Competitors can be leaning into the wind with one foot inside the tunnel without the clock starting as long as one foot is still on the floor in the antechamber.
- 2-Way VFS Intermediate and Rookie begin their round from within the tunnel. The clock will start when both of a team member’s feet leave the net.
- Each team will have 60 seconds of time to enter the tunnel, complete their 35 seconds of working time and leave. If any team does not complete their working time within the allocated 60 seconds, the score will be restricted to the points achieved in the remaining time.
- Scoring
- The performers execute all randoms and blocks in the drawn order as fast as they can accomplish them in a controlled manner.
- Performers continue to repeat all the randoms and blocks in the drawn order as many times as working time allows.
- All points, proper body positions, and complete separation between moves must be clearly shown to the judges in a controlled manner. It is the competitors’ responsibility to show the points to the judges and it is the judges’ responsibility to look for the points.
- Each random correctly performed within the allotted working time will receive one (1) point. Each block correctly performed within the allotted working time will receive two (2) points.
- Any incorrectly performed or non-judgeable random will result in zero (0) points. Any random performed while either competitor is touching the net will result in zero (0) points.
- Any incorrectly performed or non-judgeable block will result in zero (0) points. If the top or bottom of a block is performed incorrectly, but the rest is performed correctly you will receive one (1) point for the portion performed correctly. If the inter is performed incorrectly you will not receive a point for the bottom of the block. Touching the net during any portion of the block will result in a zero (0) for that portion of the block.
- Scoring formations need not be presented perfectly symmetrical, but they must be presented in a controlled manner. A hand slap is not a controlled grip and will result in a non scorable formation.
- Mirror images of random formations and whole block sequences are permitted.
- Total separation is required between blocks and random formations. Failure to meet the requirement of total separation will result in an incorrectly performed formation. If the formation is a random, you will get a zero (0) for the formation. If the formation is a block, you will not get a point for the top of the block.
- An omitted random or block will result in a deduction of three (3) points off the final score for the round. An omission is one of the following: 1) A random or block is missing from the drawn sequence; 2) No clear intent to build the correct random or block is seen and another formation is presented.
- The minimum number of points for a round is zero (0).
- A majority of the judges must agree on the evaluation of correct, incorrect or non-judgeable randoms and blocks, of the total separation requirement, and of an omission.
- Judging
- The competition rounds will be judged from the video using SkyVenture New Hampshire’s cameras.
- A minimum of one judge will evaluate each team’s performance.
- The Chief Judge is responsible for all judging and scoring.
- Judges are allowed up to five (5) views of the video and are allowed to use slow motion and freeze frames at their discretion.
- Re-flights
- Re-flights will only take place at the Chief Judge’s discretion.
- Re-flights are subject to tunnel time availability and will result in a charge for the tunnel time to be determined by SkyVenture New Hampshire
- Determination of the Champion Team: The title of champion team will be awarded to the team in each class with the highest cumulative score in the completed rounds.
