commentator’s script Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God

It is important for the Cantor/Commentator to have (and refer to) the PEW CARD so that s/he may recite the proper responses throughout the entire liturgy. Such responses should be declared clearly and with appropriate cadence so that the rest of the Faithful may join together in declarations/responses.

2 minutes prior to the Introductory Rites, the Commentator begins:

Welcome to the Church of St. Maryon this Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. As you are here to worship God, you can do so by participating fully, by singing out, and praying aloud. Help us praise God well.

Hail, Holy Mother, who gave birth to the King, who rules heaven and earth for ever.

Be present to those who hungerand thirst for justice.

For Francis our Popeand Edward our Bishop, all bishops, priests and deacons, and those men and women serving in the religious life or in the missions,may they guide others to embrace the call to share the Good News with the poor and disenfranchised…We pray to the Lord.

That this new year of grace will see an end to war, oppression and violence, and the beginning of a long reign of peace…We pray to the Lord.

That, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, mothers everywhere will be strengthened as they lead their children to value the things that really matter…We pray to the Lord.

That the hungry and homeless will have their needs satisfied through the outreach of this community of faith as we begin the New Year with renewed energy and hope…We pray to the Lord.

For the safety of all who are traveling during the Holiday season or returning to school or military service…We pray to the Lord.
