Introductory Remarks: Called to order 2:31 p.m.
Minutes of the September 6, 2017, Meeting: The meeting minutes for September 6, 2017, were approved by e-mail vote with two abstentions.
Announcements:
· CAS Dean’s Teaching Award - Please submit the nominee’s name to Professor Susanna Fessler () by October 6, 2017. A list of the nomination materials was included in the September 15, 2017, e-mail announcement and should be e-mailed to Professor Fessler by October27, 2017. Award recipients will be announced at the CAS Fall Faculty Meeting on December6, 2017, and will also be profiled on the College website.
· Homecoming/Family/Reunion Weekend is October 20-22, 2017 http://www.alumni.albany.edu/?sid=1642&gid=2&pgid=1842&cid=4414&ecid=4414&crid=0&calpgid=61&calcid=1362
· SAVE THE DATE: Fifteenth Annual College Faculty Dinner is Thursday, 11/2/17 (5:30 p.m., Treviso by Mallozzi's (Italian American Community Center)
· SAVE THE DATE: Full CAS Faculty Meeting is 12/6/17 (2:45-4:15 p.m., Multi Use Room, Campus Center West Room B90)
· Course Action Forms and Curricular Proposals are due no later than 2/28/18. Please submit program related proposals before the last day of classes in the fall semester (12/11/17). Bear in mind scheduling registration dates when specifying the effective semester for proposals. Please use updated Course Action Form available at the CAS website and UPPC Campus Impact Statement (http://www.albany.edu/senate/uppc.htm) and send proposals to Cindy Endres at .
Faculty Participation Requested:
· SAVE THE DATE: Open Forums with President Rodríguez for CAS Faculty, Staff and Graduate Students is Wednesday, 10/18/17, from 1-2:30 p.m. and 2:30-4:00 p.m. (CC Boardroom). Details to follow.
· Open House for Prospective Students is Saturday, 10/21/17 (send name of department representative to Kathy Gersowitz at by 10/11/17)

· The meeting was dedicated to the President's visit and chairs provided a 3-min overview of their department's contributions to the strategic mission of the College and the University which was then followed by Q&A.
