Clamp-on Ultrasonic Energy Meter

1.General

1.1Scope

  1. This section describes the requirements for Single Path and Dual Path Clamp-on Ultrasonic Flowmeters with Energy functions
  2. Under this item the contractor shall furnish and install the Clamp-on Energy Meter as indicated on the plans and as herein specified.

1.2Submittals

  1. The following information shall be included in the submittal for this section:
  1. Data sheets and catalog literature for the meter, transducers and associated equipment.
  2. Dimensional and installation drawings.

2. Products

2.1 Clamp-on Ultrasonic Flowmeter

  1. The meter shall be Clamp-on type that uses externally mounted transducers with no pipe penetration.
  2. The meter shall be NEMA 4X, C1D2 rated, capable of Transit-time and Doppler operation.
  3. The meter shall be either single or dual channel/ single or dual path capable.
  4. The meter may be AC (90-230VAC) or DC (9-36VDC) powered.
  5. The transducers shall be NEMA 4X, C1D1, matched to pipe size and material.
  6. Temperature measurement will be with 4 wire 1000 ohm, Pt RTD pairs matched to =/- 0.02 F. RTDs may be either surface mount or insert style. RTDs will connect directly to meter terminal strips.
  7. The meter to transducer connection cable will be a coaxial type that can be field shortened and provide a submersible connection.
  8. The meter shall be microprocessor based with graphic display and advanced diagnostics including signal graph display. It shall include automatic Reynolds number compensation.
  9. The meter shall provide 2x 4-20mA, 2x 0-10VDC, 2x Pgen and 4 relay outputs. An RS-232 output for PC communication will be included. Internal data logger with 1MB programmable memory will be included.
  10. Meter programming will be done with the integral keypad or a PC.
  11. Meter will provide totalization and flow rate in all standard units.
  12. Meter accuracy will be 0.5%-1% of rate at flows above 1 fps.
  13. Meter shall be bi-directional in the transit-time mode.
  14. Meter shall have auto-zero and not require flow stoppage to set zero flow.
  15. Meter is to include a pipe configuration menu for installations with inadequate pipe anomalies and/or convoluted piping.
  16. The meter shall allow a KW input and internal Energy Efficiency computation.

3. Operator Functions

3.1 Setup

  1. Setup will be done through integral keypad.
  2. Meter shall be capable of setup parameters specific to all standard pipe materials.
  3. Meter shall be capable of accurate flow metering on multiple fluids including but not limited to water, glycol solutions, liquid hydrocarbons.
  4. Internal diagnostics shall include, signal strength, aeration, sonic velocity and signal graph function.
  5. Alarm relays will allow detection and identification of system faults.
  6. The meter must allow on line RTD calibration using the ice bath method.

4. Execution

4.1 Installation

  1. Meter will be wall mounted in an appropriate and convenient location.
  2. Follow manufacturer’s recommendations for transducer and RTD mounting locations.
  3. Transducer spacing will be determined by meter following data entry.

5. Warranty

5.1 Terms

  1. The manufacturer of the above specified equipment shall guarantee for twelve (12) months from equipment startup or eighteen (18) months from date of shipment, whichever occurs first, that the equipment shall be free from defects in design, workmanship or materials.
  2. In the event a component fails to perform as specified or is proven defective in service during the warranty period, the manufacturer shall promptly repair or replace the defective part at no cost to the owner.
  3. Performance guarantee- the flowmeter is guaranteed to perform in accordance with the information provided in the Application Data Sheet. If the meter does not perform as required and the manufacturer, after given reasonable opportunity to remedy the issue, cannot make the field adjustments necessary to provide acceptable performance, the meter may be returned for a full refund.
