Catholic belief versus God’s Word

Topic / God’s Word / Catholic Belief
Prayer / Repetitious Prayer
Father / Shall not call anybody Father
Baptism / The word baptize derives from baptizo, the transliterated form of the Greek word βάπτειν or baptivzw. In a historical context, it means "to dip, plunge, or immerse" something entirely, e.g. into water. (The KJV New Testament Greek Lexicon Strong's Number: 907)
If you look up the meaning of the word in the
Concordance you find out that it is baptismal in the Greek and the
definition is immerse. In fact, the word was never properly translated
from the Greek; rather, it was transliterated. At the time the King
James Version was being translated and they came to that word it
should have been translated “immerse.” But, they transliterated it
instead, because the church of the day was sprinkling. So they took
the Greek letter beta and substituted the English letter B and took the
Greek letter alpha and substituted the English letter A and they went
from the Greek baptismal to baptize. In the Greek the word baptize
means immerse. The word is an onomatopoeia; that is a word that
sounds exactly like what it is. For example, when we say the dog
barks, that is exactly what a dog sounds like—bark, bark. When the
dipper would hit the water, when it would immerse into the water, it
made a noise “bap”—that is where baptismal came from. So,
immersion is what that Greek word means. We can also prove this
from the Word of God.
Romans 6-3,4. “Or do you not know that all of us who have been
baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?
Therefore, we have been buried with Him through baptism into death,
in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of
the Father, so we too might walk in the newness of life.”
Chapter 4 talks about baptism as being buried with Christ in
baptism. When you take a dead body, what do you do with it? You
bury it. You do not sprinkle a little bit of dirt on it—you bury it! You
put it completely under.
Now we have the mode, / Baptism is not sprinkle
Mary / 1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
1 John 2:1
My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; / No one comes to the Father except through Jesus
RCC teaches that Mary is the sinless co- Redeemer. “Without a single sin to restrain her, she gave herself entirely to the person and work of her son; she did so in order to serve the mystery of redemption with Him…being obedient she became the cause of salvation for herself and for the whole human race" (494).
RCC teaches that Mary “did not lay aside [her] saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation.” She “is ...Advocate… and Mediatrix” (969).
Purgatory / 1 John 2:2
and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
1 John 4:10
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. / They pay for prayer of those in purgatory
RCC teaches that sins are expiated (forgiven) in purgatory through “a cleansing fire” and that we “must strive to accept this temporal punishment of sin as a grace" (1030, 31; 1472-75)
Priest / In John 20:19–23. Let me read it: "On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained." / They say that priests can forgive
Marriage / 1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. (1 Tim 4:1-3) / Priests are told not to marry
Pope / Ephesians 1:22-23
And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. / They call the pope God on earth Infalliable
RCC teaches that the Pope, “by reason of his office as Vicar of Christ, and as pastor of the entire Church has Full, supreme and universal power over the whole Church, a power which he can always exercise un-hindered” (882). He exercises infallibility when “he proclaims by a definitive act a doctrine pertaining to faith or morals” (891).
Catechism / Priests say read the Catechism and not the Bible
Acts 4:12
“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.” / RCC denies this by claiming the Catholic Church “is necessary for salvation" (846) and claiming “the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims" (841).

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus, Whom you conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Hail, Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us. And after this our exile, show unto us the blessed Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

The Memorare of St. Bernard

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that nay one who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, and sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of Virgins, my Mother; to thee I come; before thee I stand sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.
