DESCRIPTION:
Principles of Business, Marketing, & Finance is an introduction course where students gain knowledge and skills in economics and private enterprise systems, the impact of global business, marketing of goods and services, advertising and product pricing. Students analyze the sales process and financial management principles. This course allows students to reinforce, apply, and transfer academic knowledge and skills to a variety of interesting and relevant activities, problems and settings in business, marketing, and finance.

Course Grades Evaluation of Student Performance:
Evaluation of student performance in this course is based on the following areas. Percentages indicate how much each area counts for each nine weeks. No single grade shall count more than 20%.

Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated and will result in a zero.
Current Events:
Each student must submit one current event from the Business, Marketing, or Finance industry along with a one page typed summary each nine-week period (Times New Roman font/ 12 point). Students may select from periodicals and other available media(s). Due dates to be announced in class.

*The binder will be useful as a reference manual and a portfolio of documents. Binders/notebooks may be graded periodically for organization and content. There will be tests over materials found in the binder throughout the course. At times, students will be permitted to use their binders for assistance during tests. Binders will be invaluable in daily activities.
Make Up Work:
When a student is absent, it is the student’s responsibility to get make up assignment(s) from the instructor the day returning to class or check the teacher’s website at high school/ faculty web page. If class notes have been taken while out, students need to get them from another classmate or check teacher’s webpage. It is the student’s responsibility to turn in any assignments missed within two (2) class periods of an absence. Make up work that requires class time such as tests must be made up before or after school or at the teacher’s discretion. It shall not be made up during class!
Any assignments not made up within 2 class periods will result in a grade of zero (0).
All make up work due to absences for school related activities should be completed before the absence, if possible (or within the two day class period described above). If assignments are not made up by the deadline, a grade of zero (0) will be assessed.
Late Policy:
To receive full credit for an assignment, students must turn in work by the announced deadline.
Ten (10) points deducted for every class day past the due date. Not to exceed five school days. Day six equals a zero in the grade book.
Tutoring Times and Policies:
Individual tutoring before or after school will be offered. If you arrange a time in advance, you'll have the teacher’s full attention.
DAILY PROCEDURES FOR CLASS

Come in punctually and with a positive attitude. Sit in your assigned seat every day. Please sign tardy roster on teacher’s desk if late. Correct attendance is critical!
Store all your belongings under your table/ desk for safety. Remember SAFETY FIRST
Be prepared with paper and pen. Remember to WORK SMARTER, NOT HARDER
Passes will NOT be issued the first 20 minutes, last 20 minutes of class, or during teacher instructions or lessons. Only 3 passes per nine weeks allowed unless emergency! Write your name on the sign in/out sheet, where you are going, and timebefore leaving classroom. Plan and take care of yourself. Go to the restroom between classes.
Plan and take care of your personal issues and errands before and after school or during lunch. Remember to BE RESPONSIBLE
Instructions will be given after attendance. Read the white board. BE PATIENT
Sit quietly while instructions are given. Talking to peers is not allowed unless permission given or group work assigned. BE RESPECTFUL
Assignments will be posted on white board and teacher’s webpage. You are responsible for missing assignments so please go to teacher webpage or ask a peer. A grade of a zero will be assigned if not turned in by 2 class periods (no exceptions).
Please respect everyone or you may have to provide 2 “put-ups”/ compliments. NO BULLYING will be tolerated at any time. This is a safe classroom!
Sit quietly in your assigned seat until teacher dismisses you at the bell. You will not be allowed to wait by the door. Everyone must help clean up their areas. Only beverages with tops allowed. Keep eating to a minimal unless enough to share.
When in doubt, please ASK. Everyone will be respected at all times by the teacher. I’m a professional and will treat everyone fairly. Every heart, every mind, every day!
