CALL FOR POSTERS

13th Annual Texas Health Literacy Conference October 12th & 13th, 2017

The San Antonio Health Literacy Initiative (SAHLI), a program of The Health Collaborative, is announcing a call for abstracts for poster presentations for the 13th Annual Texas Health Literacy Conference, HEALTH LITERACY: CULTURE MATTERS.

The conference will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 (beginning at 11:30 am) and Friday, October 13, 2017 at La Quinta Inn & Suites Medical Center located at 4431 Horizon Hill Blvd., San Antonio, Texas 78229.

Poster Presentations

Abstracts focusing on the conference theme are encouraged, but not required. We are interested in abstracts that relate directly to innovations in health literacy and are appealing to a broad audience. Abstracts will be reviewed by a committee and scored. Evaluation criteria include (1) quality and originality; (2) application to health services, policy, or community programming; (3) timeliness; (4) clarity of writing; (5) relevance to conference theme; and (6) uniqueness. Two poster presenters will be recognized for their work and will each receive a $250.00 award.

The designated Poster Session at the conference is from 3:30pm- 4:00pm on October 12th and 12:45 pm- 1:15 pm on October 13th. Presenters will be expected to stand by their posters and discuss them with participants during both times.

Registration: Early Bird registration is $135 by September 15th/ Regular registration after September 15th is $179

Instructions

The abstract deadline is 5 p.m. CST Monday, August 21, 2017! Late abstracts will not be accepted. Abstracts should be sent electronically to and copy to with “Health Literacy Abstract” in the subject line.

Using the abstract form, all abstracts must follow the required format and must have the below form filled out completely in order to be considered for review.

Abstracts must be type-­‐written in 12 point font with 1 inch margins. Abstracts may not be longer than 1 page in length.

Acceptance Notification

If your abstract is selected for poster presentation, you will receive information concerning poster size guidelines, set up and breakdown hours, and hotel shipping information.
