Small Holding Farmers with “Best Practices” selected by OFAI’s 3-Member Committee

The three member committee of Sarvdaman Patel, Jayant Barve and Claude Alvares discussed the recommendations made by the OFAI office in respect of nominations for the World Organic Congress in Korea between September 27 and October 3, 2011.

After going through the tabulated information submitted for each of
the candidates and considering other inputs, the committee has made
the following selection to represent OFAI at the World Organic
Congress 2011. The names are:

The Korea Organizing Committee has come to an agreement with Hotel Riviera Seoul (4-star hotel) and Hanhwa Resort Yangpyeong to provide a comfortable and memorable stay in Korea. Hotel Riviera is a 4-star hotel, situated in Chungdam-dong, Seoul city, within walking distance of the Corea Convention Exhibition Center (COEX). Major tourist attractions and shopping centers are easily accessible from the Hotel. The OWC venue can be reached within half an hour from the hotel. Hanwha Resort in Yangpyeong County is situated in a quiet area amidst natural forests and is a great place for overnight seminars and conferences. The resort is half an hour from the OWC venue and free shuttle buses will be available to the participants.

Free Transportation from Hotel to Conference Venue All transportation to conference venues will be provided and buses will leave the hotel at designated times. English speaking volunteers will be available at special IFOAM OWC information desks at Incheon Airport, Gimpo Airport and hotels to offer services to the participants of the conference. Various side and parallel events have been planned at the conference venue, the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center, to provide diversity and excitement to the participants of the Organic World Congress. Foreign and local participants will be exposed to the uniqueness of Korean organic agriculture through farmers' markets, musical performances, organic and slow food stalls and an international organic fair.
