BCRO MEMBERSHIP MEETING MAY 9, 2017

The meeting was held May 9, 2017 at the Rogers Library. President Loren Lawrence made opening remarks in regard to the agenda for the meeting. There were a total of 13 members and guests present for the meeting. Members and guests self-introduced, and each person signed the attendance log. The original copy of the log is attached to the meeting minutes, and is retained in the secretary file.

The treasurers report, as prepared by club treasurer Mark Maddox, was presented by Pres. Loren. The report listed a balance of $1763.61 in the club treasury. The report was approved by a vote of the membership.

Pres. Loren briefly discussed Field Day, Sprint the Bend Event, and the Hickory Creek Race event. It was noted by a member, upon checking the Sprint the Bend Web Page, that the event has been canceled, thus there was no further discussion reference that event.

Pres. Loren noted that the Tour De Fun Fest is scheduled for Saturday, June 17th, and that the BCRO Club will participate and assist at that event. It will be a 100 K bike race and will begin in downtown Rogers at 6:45 AM. Pres. Loren advised that 6 to 12 volunteers are needed from the ham community to help keep this a safe event.

Pres. Loren discussed ARRL Field Day coming up June 23, 24, and 25. Planning and discussion was conducted at length regarding this event. The BCRO Club will have an active role in taking part in Field Day. The club will have Field Day Activities set up on the grounds of First Christian Church, 905 S. 13th Street, Rogers, AR. Activities are scheduled to begin at 1 PM on Friday and conclude at 1 PM on Sunday. Any area ham operator is invited to take part, and the public is invited to view, participate, and learn about ham radio. Children and young people that may have an interest in ham radio are especially invited to attend.

Member and past President Darryl Wagoner, WA1GON, reported and discussed the Arkansas QSO Event, upcoming this next weekend.

An educational program was presented by Pres. Loren regarding construction of a 9-1 Balun. The program was interesting and well received by the group.

A question/answer/discussion session preceded the adjournment of the meeting before 9 PM.
