COMPETITION REGULATIONS OF

7th INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FOR DIVERSITY “ANDOENREDANDO”

From 6th to 14th November 2015

1. OBJECTIVES

The goal of International Film Festival for Diversity “Andoenredando” is to boost the cinematographic culture and to favour a better knowledge and enhancement of the audiovisual industry and its creators. It supports new audiences’ development and stronger visibility of new directors’ works by programming high quality non-commercial films. It favours the spaces for discussion on the issues the Festival tackles: Human Rights, globalization, the dynamic of society, personal relations…

2. ORGANIZATION

The International Film Festival for Diversity “Andoenredando” is organized by Torre Pacheco town council and the event will be celebrated from 6 to 14 November 2015.

3. PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

The cinematographic productions entering in competition must have been produced after 1st January 2014 and they must in addition meet the following general requirements:

  1. The same director(s) may submit more than one film. The film submitted may have been previously screened or broadcasted and it may also have been awarded in another festivals. Every single film in competition must be dispatched individually with its own specific register request.
  2. The films taking part in the competition must necessarily tackle a social topic, since the Festival aims at raising awareness on contemporary issues such as social exclusion, migration, gender violence, unemployment, fundamental rights, etc.

Any work showing these or other social issues will be accepted in the Festival, notwithstanding the main topic of the films may not have a particularly social nature.

  1. The registered films must be submitted in their original soundtrack version:

- Without subtitles if the original version of the film is Spanish (except in the case that subtitles are necessary to solve technical difficulties).

- With subtitles in Spanish or English for original versions in other languages. The selected films will send a screening copy with subtitles in Spanish besides the script text in English or Spanish.

  1. The works which do not meet reasonable quality of technical standards to be screened will be dismissed.
  2. Any advertising (pre-edited) spot, short films created after a long feature film post-editing process, TV serial episode – included pilot and post-edited episodes-, as well as short films selected as finalist in the 6th International Film Festival for Diversity “Andoenredando” will NOT be eligible to take part in the competition.

A) National and international feature films

a) Cinematographic works with duration of 60 minutes minimum are invited to participate. Film genres accepted are only fiction and documentary, whereas others such as animation, experimental or advertising are ineligible.

b) The works submitted must be in HD format (1920 x 1080 resolution), .mov HD64 compressed file, or mp4 HD64, both in 16:9 format.

B) National and international fiction or documentary short films

a) Film genres accepted are only fiction and documentary, whereas others such as animation, experimental or advertising are ineligible.

b) Only films up to a maximum length of 30 minutes (including credits) will be accepted.

c) The works submitted must be in HD format (1920 x 1080 resolution), .mov HD64 compressed file, or mp4 HD64, both in 16:9 format.

4. HOW TO ENTRY TO CONTEST

a) The entry must be done from 00:00 of 20/02/2015 to 24:00 of 21/04/2015 through the web application for festivals management “Uptofest” or “Click for Festivals”. The costs of entry and submission of films through these web applications will be borne by the participants.

b) The Festival management reserves the right to admit films which are submitted past the deadline, as well as to invite any particular film to participate because of its special interest.

c) The following information must be provided during the register process in the web application:

  • Synopsis of the film (up to 300 letters maximum, including blank spaces).
  • Technical and artistic credits.
  • Bio-filmography of the Director.
  • Picture of the Director (300 dpi, with 15 cm high minimum, jpg format).
  • Picture of the film poster (300 dpi, with 15 cm high minimum, jpg format).
  • Three representative frames or photographs of the film (300 dpi, with 15 cm high minimum, jpg format).

The documentation required by the Festival for its press releases, official catalogue, website, etc. will be extracted from the online submission form, and consequently those short films whose registration form does not include the information above mentioned will not be accepted to entry the contest.

The film promotional material that participants might want to distribute online will have to be sent in digital format to be uploaded to the media area in the Festival official web site (

4. FILMS SELECTION PROCEDURE.

Once the submission deadline is over, the works will be screened by the Festival Organization, which will pre-select the works to contest. The decisions taken by the Festival will be made public after 26th June 2015 via the website and the main social networks.

The pre-selected participants must dispatch a screening copy of the film in DVD in a case or a digital file recorded on a physical support (solid memory card or hard disk) before 31/07/2015, with the title, the name of the director, the year of production and its duration. The physical copy sent to be screened must be an exact copy of the one previously sent and screened on-line. Should any participant fail to comply with this requirement, this will eventually cause it to be dismissed by the Festival.

In order to promote the selected films the participants will send to the Festival, before 11/09/2015, three posters minimum and three minutes of the film in HD format (1920 x 1080 resolution), .mov HD64 compressed file, or mp4 HD64, both in 16:9 format.

The Festival Management will name the members of the Jury among specialists of known reputation in the film and cultural areas. The Jury decisions on each category nominees will be individually communicated to each participant and they will be published in the website after 14/09/2015.

The decisions taken by the Jury will not be subject to appeal. The Festival Management will settle any contingency not specified in the present regulations. The members of the Jury commit themselves to keep secret their resolutions until the official awards ceremony and the close of the Festival have been celebrated.

The Festival management will program the order and date for the screening of every film. Once a film has been registered it will not be returned back to the participant.

5. AWARDS

Feature films:

  • Best National Feature Film, awarded with a prize of 1.600 euro and trophy which will be delivered to the director or producer of the film.
  • Best International Feature Film, awarded with a prize of 1.600 euro and trophy which will be delivered to the director or producer of the film.

Short films:

  • Best National Short Film, awarded with a prize of 800 euro and trophy, which will be delivered to the director or producer of the short film.
  • Best International Short Film, awarded with a prize of 800 euro and trophy, which will be delivered to the director or producer of the short film.
  • Best Actor, awarded with a prize of 600 euro and trophy, which will be delivered to the winner.
  • Best Actress, awarded with a prize of 600 euro and trophy, which will be delivered to the winner.
  • “Youth for Diversity” Jury Prize, awarded with a prize of 500 euro and trophy, which will be delivered to the director or producer of the short film.

The Jury might also deliver any other honourable mention as they may consider.

The nationality of the cinematographic work will be settled according to the Spanish Law and regulations, particularly the art. 5 of Law 55/2007, of 28th December, of Cinema.

As for the category “Youth for Diversity” Jury Prize, a high value will be attached to those short films whose subject is specifically related with any aspect of immigration and emigration of people.

The payment of cash prizes will be done by a bank check the day on which Festival Awards ceremony is celebrated. These prizes will be subject to their corresponding legal tax withholdings according to the Spanish laws. The persons awarded, in their own name or in behalf of the persons they represent, will necessarily have to provide the documents requested by the Town Council for accounting purposes. The monetary prize will be subject to the tax withholdings in course at the moment the Festival makes the payment, being this amount part of the corresponding prize.

Whenever the winner films are produced by more than one film producer, the prize will be delivered to the one with the highest percentage of the film financing, (and which will act as representative of the whole production). It will be thus necessary that this producer previously presents the other producers’ authorization to this effect.

The persons awarded in a national category will attend inexcusably the Festival Awards ceremony- but for the case of force majeure duly proved- in order to receive the cash prize. Professional or work obligations will not be considered one of the possible “force majore” causes. Support to facilitate the attendance will be offered to any awarded person who happens to be outside the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.

Each category award will not be delivered to more than one winner.

The awarded films are bound to include, at the beginning of the film, an explicit reference to the International Film Festival for Diversity “Andoenredando” award. The corporate image of this reference will be provided in digital support by the Management Committee.

6. USE OF THE WORKS

Torre Pacheco town council reserves the right to screen all the pre-selected or awarded films at the 7th International Film Festival for Diversity “Andoenredando”, including extracts of these, naming its author(s), as well as to screen them in cultural or educational local not-for-profit exhibitions.

Participants authorize Torre Pacheco town council to use stills, photographs and extracts of the films, up to three-minute length maximum, to be broadcasted by any advertising means, included TV and the Internet, with the purpose to promote and disseminate this Festival.

In addition, every person participating at the Festival Awards ceremony and other events organized by Torre Pacheco town council which are related to these awards, authorize the use of their image for any information or promotional activity dealing with the Festival.

All pre-selected and awarded works will become part of the film collection of the International Film Festival for Diversity “Andoenredando”.

7. ACEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS.

The entry into the 7th International Film Festival for Diversity “Andoenredando” implies the acceptance of every aspect established by these regulations, as well as the settlement by the Festival Management of any issue which might not be specifically considered in these regulations. These being edited in Spanish and English language, the former version will prevail over the English one in case of any contradictory or divergent interpretation.

These regulations could be subject to change because of any contingency not due to the Festival Management, which will be communicated to the participants in due time.
