Area Manager, Full Time

The JA Area Manager is responsible for the daily operation, planning, organizing, implementation, and administration of JA (Junior Achievement) programming in elementary schools, including oversight and/or execution of recruitment, training and support of volunteers and coordination with teachers and schools throughout JA Windsor, Chatham and Sarnia. The area manager is also responsible to lead our next phase of sustainable fundraising and sponsorship generation.

Primary Responsibilities

Program Management: Manage the registration and scheduling process for schools and teachers, matching volunteers to programs and acting as a liaison between teachers and program volunteers. Assist in establishing and monitoring program delivery goals and budgets and reporting.Forecast and plan program material needs. Procure program materials and provide to volunteers.

Fund Development: Theincumbentwill havetheopportunitytoworkwithapassionate teamindevelopingandimplementingafunddevelopment strategythatwill positiontheorganizationfor significantgrowthandexpansioninthe comingyears.

Activelyidentify,cultivate,solicitandstewardaportfolioofcorporate andindividualprospectsfor multi-year and/orone-timegiftsand/or sponsorship.

Assessthecurrentdonor pipelineanddevelopstrategiestoupgradeexisting donorsandincreasegivingoverall.

Provideprofessionalandstrategicsupporttofundraisingvolunteers,inparticular theAdvisory Council committeeoftheBoard of Directors.

Generatecustomizedandstrategicmaterialstosupportfunddevelopment activitiesincludingbriefingnotes,proposals,presentations,casefor support and stewardship reports.

Maintainaccurate, professionalandcurrentrecords, actionsandreportsthrough hardandsoftcopyfiles,andwithinthedonor database.

Financial Management: Along with the bookkeeper and Treasurer of the Board, ensures sound financial controls are in place and adhered to. Develops annual budgets of revenue and expense and reports performance against budget on a monthly basis.

Volunteer Management: Recruit volunteers through a variety of methods including cooperation with key contacts in JA’s community and corporate supporters. Provide training and support to all volunteers. Develop and implement activities to ensure retention and recognition of volunteers.

Relationship Management: Develop new and nurture existing relationships with schools, educators, corporate coordinators, volunteers, and sponsors.

Additional duties and responsibilities: Maintain accurate program records in line with organizational standards and objectives. Represent JA in the community in a positive and professional manner. Assist in organizing and executing other JA-organized events and activities as required.

Education/Experience

  • Relevant post-secondary education and/or experience is required.
  • Three to five years of experience in program, project or event management is preferred.
  • Minimum fiveyearsofdemonstratedsuccessina marketing,business development and/or corporateor communityfundraising role.
  • Successful donor cultivationandsolicitationtrackrecord.
  • Experienceworkinginavolunteerenvironment,aseitherastaff or volunteer.
  • University or College degree.
  • Aclear commitmenttoongoingprofessionaldevelopment.
  • Proven team player, who is recognized as one who rolls up their sleeves to participate in a small team environment. Values teamwork amongst peers.
  • Stronganalytical,research,interpretativeandevaluationskills.
  • Self-directed, someonewhopossessestheability to multi-taskandsuccessfullymanage multipleprioritiesandcompetingdeadlines.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with CRM systems is preferred.
  • Current driver’s license and access to a vehicle as some local travel is required.
  • Must be willing to complete a Police Vulnerable Sector Records Check.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent group facilitation and organizational skills.
  • Public speaking experience and knowledge of the education, business and/or JA community is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will be innovative, results oriented and forward-thinking.
  • French-speaking is also an advantage, but not required.

Standardworkweekis37.5hours,over5days,representing8hoursattheofficedaily. Workoutsideoftheregular workdayisoccasionallyrequiredforeveningandweekend meetings,attendanceandparticipationatspecialevents,or torepresentJAatexternal functions.Sometravel mayberequired.

Workingina multi-taskenvironment,thisposition reportsdirectlytothe Chair of the JA Board.Salarywill becommensuratewithexperience.
