Aquatics Director (Seasonal/Exempt)

Reports to: Assistant General Manager
Exmoor Country Club, an exclusive privateclub on Chicago’s North Shore, is seeking an innovative, devoted and experienced Aquatics Director to manageall duties and responsibilities of pool personnel, pool activities, including the Club swim team, special events and private functions; insures safe operation of pool and that pool use is done so in an organized and safe manner; and develops attractive programs that will interest and encourage members, families, and guests to participate.This is a six month position each year to allow for pre-season planning, staffing and after-season reporting and planning.
Core Responsibilities:
a)Manages all swim instructors, coaches, lifeguards, competitive swim team, special events/parties, and all other programs and pool-oriented activities. Will emphasize by example and in management to be part of a culture of excellence to members.
b)Responsible for planning, developing, and evaluating all aquatic programs and their successes and enhancements. This requires learning member’s interests and creating programs around levels of ability, age groups and special events.Coordinates with other Club managers to create new and inviting programs and events.
c)Establishes and manages inviting Swim Lessons Programs, inter-club competitive Swim Team, and new and inviting eventsthat enhance the memberexperience.Hires, trains, and evaluates lifeguards and all other pool staff to provide optimum safety and enjoyment of pool facilities for members.
d)Maintains pool seasonal operations within approved budget and looks for ways to improve the aquatics program within reasonable budgetary guidelines.
e)Ensures pool operation is in compliance with all state and local codes, and that the filtration system function and chlorination and PH levels are observed.
f)Ensures that the pool, pool equipment, pool facilities, and areas around pool are clean, sanitary and orderly.
g)Recommend capital expenditures to ensure best practices operation to General Manager; ensure budgetary guidelines maintained; perform other tasks as delegated by the General Manager and/or Clubhouse Manager.
h)Will attend manager’s weekly meetings as requested, and ensure the Assistant General Manager and General Manager are informed of any issues or necessary contingencies.
i)Responsible for high level of customer service focus and commitment that exemplify a culture of service excellence expected at an exclusive private country club.
Knowledge, Skills, Credentials:
a)2-4 years’ experience in pool and staff management
b)Bachelor’s degree with major concentration in related and appropriate field.
c)Current Certification in First Aid and Lifesaving
d)Current CPR & AED Certification
e)Current Water Safety/Lifeguarding certification
f)Current Water safety Instructor’s Certification (WSI)
g)Effective presentation, teaching and communication skills
h)Well-defined member service dedication, marketing & organizational skills, software skills
i)Must have current driver’s license and auto insurance, and clear DMV record
j)Pluses: Certified Pool Operator’s, ASCA Level 2 Swim Lesson Instructor Training,
Starguard or Ellis Certifications.
Physical Requirements:
a)Hours may vary and may extend beyond 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and includeweekends evenings and holidays.
b)Most time is worked outside in/around pool area in varying temperatures and conditions during season.
c)Must have physical requirements for water rescue, substitute lifeguard duties and pool maintenance.
