PROFESSION SELECTION AND INCOME TAX

This project covers calculating the income tax from a selected profession.

The objective of the project is for you to select a profession, research the requirements for that profession, evaluate how you are progressing towards that goal, and determining net monthly income from that profession. This will be a part of your final budget project at the end of the semester.

PROJECT SUBMITTED AFTER DUE DATE: LOSS OF 5 POINTS PER SCHOOL DAY.

PROJECT GRADE EQUALS TEST GRADE.

THIS IS NOT A GROUP PROJECT. EACH STUDENT SHOULD DO THEIR OWN PROJECT.

SECTION II – Lessons Learned

The objective of this section is to allow you time and space to evaluate your selected profession. Select and research your desired profession, including requirements and gross annual income. Do a self evaluation on how you are progressing towards satisfying those requirements. Write at least a one page paper, 12 font, and 1” marginsexplaining (5 points each):

1)Why you selected the profession that you did,

2)The requirements for that profession,

3)Your progress in meeting those requirements,

4)Your expected gross annual income

5)Lessons Learned from the Income Tax section,

6)Lessons Learned while selecting and researching a desired profession.

Remember to watch your spelling and grammar (remember your language arts classes).

Please note that your grade will be adversely affected if you write less than a page

SECTION III - Evaluation

The objective of this section is to test some of the mathematics skills we learned and discussed in the class.

  1. Select and research your desired job, including the requirements and annual gross income. You can look at Mr. Moss’ MMM Wiki, under Handouts and “Web Pages for Wages and Cars.
  1. Determine if you want to file as married or single
  1. Fill out the income tax forms 1040 EZ Federal Income Tax Form
  1. Fill out the Georgia State 500 EZ Income Tax Form
  1. Determine your monthly net income.
