Analysis program summary
A.To make masstd files for D(U), D(V), T(U), T(V), U and V:
Prepare a DTUV list: Example: DTUVlist(2006_Oct-Nov_2-4km_60min)3DaK.txt
This list now allows more than 2 beams; despite it claims, the sign change did not happen. So, the zonal wind from the West beam is the negative of what is in the corresponding output file.
Run MassTDNGradrM2006.pro
You will be prompted with the max errorbar question:
The default max error allowed is 20K for temperature, 40m/s for wind, and 1.e10 for density.
Do you want to change them?
Output like: MasstdU(2006_Oct-Nov_2-4km_60minW)3DaK.txt
Within the errrorbars, 999.000 indicates data with larger errorbar.
Since the MassTDRemDegb.pro can only detect degeneracy in the adjacent rows, onw should run CkOrderMassTD.pro before we ran MassTDRemDegb.pro
Run MassTDRemDegb.pro to rid of degeneracy.
Here, you generally set the same errorbars, e.g. 20 K and 40 m/s.
Output like:MasstdU(2006_Oct-Nov_2-4km_60minW)3DaK.txtND
B.Run MassAllTDN2Rich2JoeM7c.pro to get comb temp, derivatives of T(z) and wind gradients etc for dynamics and instability studies
Prepare OptionTUV list like: OptionlistTUV_Jan-Feb02_07-14-05.TXT
Output like:
MassTDBruntsqEastJan-Feb02_July14-05 – With East beam data
MassTDBruntsqJan-Feb02_July14-05 – When either East or North beam with data
MassTDBruntsqNorthJan-Feb02_July14-05 – With North beam data
MassTDBruntsqTUVcomJan-Feb02_July14-05 – When both beam have data
The following only when both beams with data:
MassTDRichardEastJan-Feb02_July14-05 – use East beam temperature
MassTDRichardJan-Feb02_July14-05 – use Comb temperature
MassTDRichardNorthJan-Feb02_July14-05 – use North beam temperature
MassTDVelShearJan-Feb02_July14-05
The following when either beam with data:
MassTDTempCombJan-Feb02_July14-05
MassTDTgradJan-Feb02_July14-05
Notice the inconsistency in the use of names between (T and Tgrad), and (Bruntsq and VelShear)
D. Contours – default, 3-point-smooth
DenMassTDContour7a.pro
TempMassTDContour7c.pro _winter, summer scale? Actually only one scale?
WindMassTDContour7b.pro
WindShearMassTDContour7a.pro
Notice that if you use reconstructed tide as the input file, you need to change the
Time Date UTTime VHorDatMF-u_Dak_24-12(70.00) DVHorDatMF-u_Dak_24-12(70.00)
To conform with the corresponding line in the original mass td file.
Also, the legend of the contour may be different.
F. Tidal analysis with reconstruction
I use Tidal 7e to get tides and reconstructed masstd, using list like: OptionlistTideU(Nov-2006_2-4km)MF_Dak.txt
You can decide how many tidal components you wish.
I got these outputs:
TideAnaly.U(Nov-2006_Tide)MF.eps
LombOut_U(Nov-2006_Tide)MF
TideOut_U(Nov-2006_Tide)MF
JourTanalyNov1706.MF-U-Dak
MassTDuTideU(Nov-2006_2-4km)MF_Dak.txtDatMF-u_Dak_24-12
MassTDuTideU(Nov-2006_2-4km)MF_Dak.txtRecMF-u_Dak_24-12
