POSITION SUMMARY: This position is highly responsible for supporting and promoting the agency’s overriding mission of making systemic changes in the justice arena that will lead to the fair and equitable treatment of Alaska Natives. The incumbent is a member of the management team and reports to, and works directly with the President/CEO of the Alaska Native Justice Center.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as management liaison to project development and implementation.
  • Coordinates with Program Coordinator to determine how to transition program from the design phase and successfully operationalize programs.
  • Provides technical assistance on program implementation, compliance and reporting issues.
  • Works directly with the President/CEO in the development of programs, budgets, sustainability and staff development.
  • Coaches program staff, where necessary to improve program implementation and effectiveness and ensure compliance to stated objectives and targets.
  • Partners with Program Coordinator and Evaluator to ensure proper implementation of the designed evaluation tool.
  • Partners with Program Coordinator to identify program redesign needs and provides recommendations to be considered in redesign efforts.
  • Oversees and manages a team of direct service advocates and restorative justice personnel in a variety of disciplines.
  • Monitor new grant and project report submittals.
  • Implements, manages, and monitors program budgets and financial reporting; including drafting of key documents for review by the President/CEO.
  • Serve as the ANJC representative on selected committees and boards.
  • Travel to project sites, as needed.
  • Assist with research, data collection, and GPRA as related to grant goals and objectives.
  • In conjunction with Program Coordinator identifies, researches, drafts and submits proposals for individual, corporate and foundation prospects, regionally and nationally.
  • Responsible for updating agency procedural manual with input from program staff through teams.
  • Provides staff direction and consult regarding program strategies for development as directed by the President/CEO.
  • Fields requests from communities/organizations for public speaking, training, technical assistance, education, and makes appropriate staff assignments and/or recommendations to the President/CEO.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of Alaska Native/and or community resources with an understanding of and appreciation for the Alaska Native cultures and history.
  • Demonstrated strong application of management skills.
  • Demonstrated strong speaking, presentation, writing and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to set organizational goals and objectives, in addition to managing the professional development of their direct reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the strategic planning process.
  • Demonstrated capacity to be energetic and creative focused on exceeding organizational expectations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of human resource management foundations and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive corporate and client information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with all levels of the organization, including the Board of Directors, executives, managers, staff and external contacts.
  • Demonstrated capacity to handle multiple tasks, projects and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated highly motivated self starter with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access and software programs to produce media.

MINIMUM QUALITICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in justice, social work, psychology or related field. Masters preferred.
  • Minimum three years relevant experience with demonstrated competence in programming and implementation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Alaska Native people, villages, and have knowledge of and appreciation for their values and belief systems, and the ability to provide culturally competent services, including programming and implementation.
  • Valid Alaska drivers license and reliable transportation
  • Must be able to travel to rural Alaska (statewide) and out-of-state
