A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of David R. Gibson.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to our friend, David R. Gibson, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, David Gibson was born on April 20, 1951, and departed this earth unexpectedly on March 24, 2004; and

WHEREAS, David Gibson was a graduate of Iroquois High School in Louisville and Eastern Kentucky University; and

WHEREAS, David Gibson joined the staff of Kentucky Educational Television on July 1, 1976 as a Master Control Switcher, marking the beginning of what would evolve into an outstanding 27-year career; and

WHEREAS, following many years in KET's Programming Division, he moved to the Production area where he served for four years as Director of "Kentucky Afield"; and

WHEREAS, David Gibson produced and directed three electronic Field Trips for use in Kentucky schools as a means of sharing the wonder and natural beauty of the Bluegrass State with young people throughout the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, since 1996, David Gibson served as Director of KET's popular program "Kentucky Tonight"; and

WHEREAS, beginning in 2000, David Gibson began producing KET's legislative coverage, continuing the outstanding tradition of sending a look inside the activities of the people's branch of government into homes and schools across the state; and

WHEREAS, David Gibson leaves behind a loving wife, Sheila and a host of beloved nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, David Gibson will be fondly remembered by members of the General Assembly, staff, and his colleagues at KET, not just as a consummate professional, but also as a gentle man with a quick wit and easy smile, who loved University of Louisville sports and time spent on the golf course; and

WHEREAS, a life well-lived should be measured by deeds, not years, and the passing of David Gibson has left a void that cannot be filled; and

WHEREAS, David Gibson is mourned across the length and breadth of his beloved Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of our friend, David R. Gibson, and extends to his family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of David R. Gibson.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Ms. Sheila Gibson, 4036 Kenesaw Drive, Lexington, Kentucky 40515-6272.
