A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor and loving memory of Laura Tucker Ellis, M.D.
WHEREAS, Dr. Laura Tucker Ellis was an esteemed treasure and native daughter of the Commonwealth, born in Louisville, Kentucky, on October 31, 1963, to Joseph Tucker and the late Joyce Curran Tucker; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Laura Tucker Ellis embraced educational advancement and academic excellence, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Louisville in 1985, furthering her pursuits at the University of Louisville Medical School in 1989, and completing her family practice residency at the Trover Clinic and Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Laura Tucker Ellis emanated a passion for service and zealous fervor for treating the needs of families in her community by providing quality health care, devoting her career to leading in such roles as president of the St. Claire Regional Medical Center staff, diplomate of the American Academy of Family Physicians, chairman of the board of the Hope Pregnancy Center in Morehead, volunteer at the People's Clinic, and member of the board of Lakeside Christian Academy; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Laura Tucker Ellis lived as an exemplary model of compassion and dedicated leadership, cherished by all as a radiant light and firm pillar in her community, and valued by her gracious patients and admiring associates with the honor of "Best Physician in the Region" by the Morehead News; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Laura Tucker Ellis led as a steadfast voice in the community of faith, prayerfully joining in fellowship with the congregation at Morehead United Methodist Church, and tirelessly volunteering her efforts to the mission of discipleship; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Laura Tucker Ellis held a sincere love for her family, sharing her life as the loving companion of Dr. Jeffrey Lee Ellis; the adoring mother of Nicholas Tucker Ellis, Matthew Lee Ellis, Tucker Jay Ellis, and Jack Roman Ellis; the cherished sister of Celeste Tucker Worth; and the admired jewel to dozens of relatives and dear friends; and
WHEREAS, on March 5, 2013, Dr. Laura Tucker Ellis departed her life of compassionate service and entered eternal rest, leaving her family, friends, and an entire community in solemn mourning; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Laura Tucker Ellis merits great applause for her exemplary commitment to care and unwavering love for her community, leaving behind a legacy of sterling leadership, honorable kindness, and medical excellence;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its most profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Dr. Laura Tucker Ellis, and extends its sincerest condolences to her beloved family and friends during their time of loss.
Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory, honor, and appreciation of Dr. Laura Tucker Ellis.
Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Representative Rocky Adkins for delivery to the family.
