The highly acclaimed Ithemba Programme is nearing completion after 8 months of intensive study, and the learners are excited about what the future may hold for them. The Ithemba Programme, sponsored by Fasset and delivered by S&T School of Accounting, has taken the learners over an 8 month journey where they completed the 7 requite modules of the Accounting Technician certificate ( The modules the learners had to complete successfully, with a pass rate of higher than 75% to be declared competent, was Accounts Preparation 1 & 2, Cash Management, Ethics, Cost & Revenue, Tax, and the final module due for completion is Spreadsheets. Classes were attended daily, and exams were computer-based, uploaded and assessed directly by the AAT UK.

To ensure that the students not only had the financial knowledge required, but were also deemed work ready, a variation of work readiness modules were offered through the 8 months, ranging from direct business related skills required such as telephone skills, meeting skills and presentation skills, to general enhancement skills like English Language training and Personal impact. They were also assisted in the art of writing a CV, interview skills, and the much appreciated Dress and Grooming, where business dress on a budget was addressed. To complete their skills set training was offered in MS Office applications.

The learners now have a solid knowledge of the financial arena that they have been prepared for, and with the additional skill set can be considered as work ready. Their enthusiasm for entering the world of work is evident in the amount of applications that the learners are starting to send out. These learners are being offered to companies at no cost.
