Zoetis announces the 2018 ANTIPARASiTIC Call to award grant funding
We are interested in novel approaches to protecting animals against parasites:
· Protecting dogs from heartworm disease
o Using a biological or a biopharmaceutical approach
(driving innovation beyond a traditional small molecule approach)
o Diagnostic tools to detect the early stages of infection
o Understanding and monitoring an L3 larval heartworm infection to adulthood
in the host, including the mechanisms of their migration to the heart
· Protecting cattle and sheep from endoparasites
o To control resistant nematodes and trematodes
o To control cryptosporidiosis
· Protecting poultry from parasites
o New approaches to control coccidiosis
· Formulation innovation
o Extending the duration of efficacy of actives using persistent formulations
More than one grant may be funded; minimum funding per grant will be $25,000; maximum funding per grant will be $150,000. Grants may be accepted for multiple years of research and extended if agreed milestones are met.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
All proposals must please use this application form. Applications should be no more than 10 pages in length in 12-point font.
Proposals to be submitted to by February 28th, 2018.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Grants will be approved by a Zoetis committee across divisions and disciplines based on the relevance of the research proposed to the interests described above. Zoetis may use academic consultants under confidentiality agreements to help with the review process.
PAYMENT
Payments will be allocated at selection based on scope of work.
NOTIFICATION OF AWARD
Candidates will be notified of the committee’s decision by March 31, 2018.
TERMS
Funding for winning proposals will be subject to execution of a Zoetis research agreement containing relevant intellectual property and confidentiality provisions. Payments will be determined at time of selection based on the scope of work. Zoetis will have exclusive option to license inventions arising from funded grants.

F. Animal Welfare Risk Assessment
Zoetis requires all third party facilities that are conducting Zoetis sponsored animal based research to be subject to an Animal Care and Welfare Risk Based Assessment. This assessment is completed by the Zoetis animal risk assessment team to assure that the project and the facility where project will take place meets the Zoetis Corporate Policy on Animal Care and Use (CP 109)
The assessment must be completed after the successful project has been identified and prior to the start of the project and distribution of funds. All projects must also be approved by the relevant local Animal Use Committee before initiation of work or funding.
