Daniel P. Corr assumed the position of Vice President of Academic Affairs at Scottsdale Community College in September, 2007. SCC is a comprehensive community college enrolling approximately 11,000 students annually.

SCC is one of ten colleges that comprise the Maricopa County Community College District, the nation’s largest. As the chief academic officer of the college, Dr. Corr leads a faculty of 173.

During his tenure with Scottsdale Community College, Daniel has spearheaded a number of important initiatives. He currently serves as Chair of the system-wide Student Success Initiative aimed at improving student retention and goal completion. He also serves on the Board of Trustees team during the faculty Meet and Confer process. Other system-wide responsibilities include serving on the Faculty of Color Recruitment and Retention Committee, the Information Technology Committee, and the District Curriculum Committee.

At the campus level, Daniel is a member of the College Administrative Council, the College Leadership Team, Chair of the Curriculum Council, Chair of the Division Chairs Council and Co-chair of SCC’s Planning and Budget Advisory Committee. Since assuming his position at Scottsdale, Daniel has focused his attention on improving student success, establishing greater integration with Student Affairs and developing a more strategic schedule of course offerings to reduce the number of classes cancelled each semester.

Daniel is also active in the community. He serves on the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce Governmental Relations Board and as SCC’s United Way Representative. Daniel is also a member of the Scottsdale Rotary and Arizona Town Hall.

Prior to joining Scottsdale Community College, Daniel spent twelve years in the Illinois community college system. He served in a variety of administrative roles including the Associate Dean of Adult and Professional Education, Dean of Academic Enrichment and Language Studies, and Associate Vice President for Occupational Programs. His other professional experience included four years at the Director of Training at the Latino Coalition for Jobs, a community-based organization. Daniel also spent eighteen-months teaching English-as-a Second Language in Japan and Korea.

In addition to his administrative background, Daniel has extensive community college teaching experience. Over the past decade he has taught College Success courses, English as a Second Language and developmental-level Reading.

Daniel earned a baccalaureate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Liberal Studies emphasis. He earned a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education from Governors State University in University Park Illinois and a Doctorate of Education from Argosy University. His dissertation focused on the impact of role dual enrollment programs on college choice. He has presented his findings at local, state and national conferences.

Daniel and his wife, Laura, have two grammar school aged daughters and reside in Mesa, Arizona.
