Re: Pearson SuccessNet

On behalf of Pearson Prentice Hall, I want to apologize for all of the challenges you have

experienced with Pearson SuccessNet including errors with student information, registration and

system stability.

Our technical services division has recently uploaded over 95,000 Cobb County student and

teacher records to the Pearson SuccessNet system. In the process we have encountered

problems with missing student information and students not being assigned to classes and as a

result several students were not assigned an on-line textbook. Our technology development

team is working to resolve all the issues and we are applying the necessary resources to correct

all of the student information problems Cobb County is experiencing.

At the start of this school year, your teachers and students may have experienced problems

logging into SuccessNet. We have corrected many of the issues surrounding the stability of the

platform. To provide you some background, on August 4, 2006 Pearson launched a new version

of Pearson SuccessNet. The changes to the site and the embedded tools within it were to

provide improved functionality and going forward, enhanced features for our customers. At the

onset of the launch of the new system, we experienced difficulties with registration and

responsiveness. Many of titles did not migrate as expected and our customers could not access

some of the online content.

As of today, most of the problems concerning registration have been resolved and the

performance of the system has greatly improved. Efforts are now focused on getting complete

content up on the site and we are working to restore the rich media files and embedded links

throughout the online textbooks. Further enhancements to our hosted technology continue to be

made, and we are confident that these changes will allow us to continue to improve the

performance of SuccessNet and minimize the difficulties that you have been experiencing.

Finally, we are developing contingency plans for Cobb County should problems persist or arise in

the future.

Pearson regrets the difficulties Cobb County has encountered using the new version of

SuccessNet. Please be assured, we are working diligently to resolve the issues and look forward

to continuing to serve you and your community of learners.

Thank you for your continued support and patience.
