Age UK Barrow and District is a local independent charity whose aim is to improve the quality of life for people living in the Borough of Barrow-in-Furness. It achieves its aim by delivering a range of services for both active and vulnerable older people.

JOB TITLE Charity Shop Manager

PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE To manage the Age UK Barrow and District charity shop, ensuring efficient and effective management of staff, premises and stock to provide a high quality retail service in relation to agreed performance targets. To ensure all appropriate standards of security and health and safety are met.

RESPONSIBLE TO Chief Executive

LOCATION Barrow-in-Furness

HOURS OF WORK 28 hours per week, Monday to Friday and alternate Saturdays

DURATION Temporary contract to cover maternity leave

SALARY £14,560 per annum pro rata (£11,648)

HOLIDAYS 25 days plus bank holidays pro rata

MAIN DUTIES
Income / Sales
Maximise shop income including EBay sales and achieve agreed performance targets
Maintain a high level of commercial awareness by staying informed of sales trends, stock position and local competition
Implement the highest standards of customer care and service
Promote Gift Aid to customers and sign up donors to enhance shop income
Stock
Generate stock donations to meet sales requirements, acknowledge receipt and arrange collection where necessary
Accept, sort, price and display stock
Responsible for stock control, including disposal of unsold or unwanted donations at the best possible return
Administer the van collection scheme
Administration
Ensure that all Age UK administrative and financial procedures are followed including banking, van collection, EBay and volunteer records
Ensure security of stock and cash on the premises report any shortfalls to the Chief Executive
Accurately input required data into IT equipment within agreed timescales
Other Responsibilities
Undertake any other appropriate duties required to achieve performance targets and realise the full potential of the shop
