1. Court Executive 2a – Superior Court Clerk’s Office (09-54-24) – Closing date: November 22, 2009

Location: Trenton, NJ – Salary Range: $75,022 - $110,162; New Jersey Bar not required

The New Jersey Judiciary, Office of the Superior Court, is seeking a manager with excellent analytical, managerial, communication, and leadership skills to assist in directing the operations of the office as well as provide support, guidance and input on statewide programs, initiatives or workflows related to work of the Superior Court. The individual will work under the direction of the Court Executive 3A (Acting Clerk of the Superior Court) and responsibilities will include planning the implementation of projects or programs; providing program support through site visits or training; coordinating work between units or teams; recommending improvement in operating procedures or administrative practices; other duties as required.

Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of professional administrative and/or program management experience, three (3) of which shall have included responsibility for program development and/or implementation and for supervision of staff. (Please specifically address all minimum requirements, including years of supervision, in application materials. Only applicants whose materials clearly demonstrate the minimum requirements will be considered.)

Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year-for-year basis. A master’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of experience as indicated above. A law degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience as indicated above.

2. Attorney 1 – Central Appellate Research (09-55-24) – Closing date: December 4, 2009

Location: Trenton, NJ – Salary Range: $59,570 - $92,839

The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking a qualified candidate with proven ability in legal research and writing, and an interest in the intellectual challenges presented by appeals before the Appellate Division. The selected candidate will work with other research attorneys on one of the country’s largest central research staffs. This individual will be supervised by the Director of Central Appellate Research or another Court Executive. The selected candidate will read trial and agency records, research legal issues and prepare legal memoranda on cases of the intermediate level of difficulty; will also work on cases that are specially assigned to the staff by the judges and prepare short memos on summary disposition motions.

Requires graduation from an American Bar Association-approved law school and one (1) year of legal experience that has included professional legal research and analyzing and evaluating legal documents, rules, regulations, and legislation or one year of experience as a New Jersey Judicial law clerk. NOTE: Excellent research and writing skills are essential. LICENSE: Admission to practice and current good standing as an Attorney-at-Law in the State of New Jersey.

3. Supervisor 2 (2 positions) – All Court Divisions (4-09) – Closing date: Nov. 18, 2009

Location: Freehold, NJ – Salary Range: $54,247.71 - $94,185.97; New Jersey Bar not required

Under the direction of the Court Executive 2b (Civil, Criminal, Family or Probation Division Manager) or other designated supervisory personnel, the selected candidates will assign, monitor, evaluate, review, lead and oversee the work activities and staff resources of a team or work unit consisting of professional, paraprofessional and/or support staff employees. The individuals are responsible for assigning workloads and specific duties to staff or team members; providing customer service; directing and coordinating work between units or teams; communicating human resources policies, rules or regulations to team members; scheduling team members work hours or vacation time; conducting formal work performance evaluations with staff; evaluating unit or team performance; mediating staff conflicts; reviewing and correcting work of staff and checking written reports for accuracy and completeness. The individuals will also perform other related work as required.

Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and three years of increasingly responsible professional experience, one (1) year of which shall have included experience in case management; calendar management; program administration (development, analysis, implementation, administration, or research); the supervision, monitoring, and intervention of offenders; or the enforcement of court orders. Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute paraprofessional and professional experience for education on a year for year basis. A Master’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of general experience as indicated above. A Law degree may be substituted for two (2) years of general experience as indicated above. Note: Experience working with diverse populations is helpful. Also, bilingual skills in Spanish/English languages are helpful.

4. Specialist 3 – Self-Help Resource Center (5-09) – Closing date: Nov. 30, 2009

Location: Freehold, NJ – Salary Range: $44,932.51 - $72,878.10; New Jersey Bar not required

The Monmouth Vicinage is seeking a professional, who is motivated, organized and customer service oriented to join the Monmouth Vicinage team. Under the general direction of the Court Executive 3B (Trial Court Administrator), and the direct supervision of the Ombudsman, this individual will provide support to court users in resolving issues with the Superior Courts; inform individuals of their rights, entitlements, or available services; address community organizations, public forums and/or professional groups; answer questions posed by the public, employee, clients, customers, complainants, subordinates or supervisors; establish working relationships with other state agencies or other outside organizations; explain judiciary policies or procedures to clients or customers; check program success through site visits or testing; respond to employee, attorney, litigant or citizen complaints; evaluate program performance in accordance with established policies or procedures; analyze programs or work units to determine effectiveness or efficiency; analyze work processes or methods; conduct quantitative or qualitative research of processes, programs or projects; develop manuals, guides, audio-visual aids or other materials; implement operating procedures of systems and design forms, draft correspondence, reports, press releases or proposals.

Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional experience in program evaluation, program development, program analysis, program administration or administrative research. Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute paraprofessional and professional experience as indicated above on a year-for-year basis. A master’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of general experience as indicated above. A law degree may be substituted for two (2) years of general experience as indicated above. Note: Experience working with diverse populations and bilingual skills in Spanish/English languages helpful. Good computer, problem solving and communication skills (both verbal and written) also helpful.
