GENERAL BEHAVIOUR OF SWIMMERS, PARENTS, OFFICIALS AND COACHES DURING GALAS

SWIMMERS:

It has come to our attention that swimmers fail to report to the Competitor Steward at least 5 heats prior to their event or at all or fail to stay at the allocated spot once they have reported and then return to the pavilion, their coach or their parents.

This behavior is not allowable and a swimmer that does not report or remain at the allocated spot shall not be allowed to swim that event.

It has also been reported that swimmers at a particular gala were very noisy and failed to adhere to the Competitor Stewards instructions:

The rule is: Swimmers are expected to behave properly and show respect to officials, other swimmers and members of the public. Bad behavior will not be tolerated and can result in disciplinary action. A swimmer may even be refused further participation at the gala.

PARENTS AND COACHES:

It has furthermore been reported that parents and coaches have been questioning decisions of officials:

No parent is allowed to discuss a decision with any official and only coaches or managers may discuss such decisions with the referee(s) for the session.

No parent, manager of coach is allowed to discuss any decision with a judge and may only discuss such a decision with the referee(s) for the session.

The coach or manager may under certain instances, protest in writing against a decision of the referee upon payment of an amount of R 100.00. If the protest is not upheld the R 100.00 shall be forfeited.

The coach or manager may thereafter lodge a written appeal.

Failure to strictly adhere to these rules may result in the offender been ordered from the pool deck and/or premises.

Members are also again reminded that general tolerance and common courtesy amongst the officials and members are of utmost importance for congenial co-operation between all parties involved.

Kindly bear in mind that the officials are volunteers that do not get compensated for their services.

Your assistance in this regard shall be highly appreciated.

Yours sincerely
