Plans for Northview Heights, Hungerford
On 15 July I met with residents of Northview Heights to explain our plans to close this scheme and the moving options available to you.
We will close this scheme over the next six months. I realise that this may be a shock, but we have made the decision after carefully considering the longer-term suitability of the building and the needs of our residents.
This letter confirms the points I explained at the meeting. I have also included a ‘questions and answers’ sheet to help you to:
· think more about how this will affect you
· discuss our plans with a close relative or support worker, and
· understand how Sovereign can help you.
Moving options
Firstly, I would like to reassure you that we will do our very best to find alternative accommodation that meets your needs. This may include:
· an offer of a flat in our new Lindley Lodge scheme in Hungerford, opening this autumn to residents aged 55 years or over
· an offer of an alternative suitable Sovereign home, or
· working with the council and other housing associations to find an alternative suitable home.
Financial compensation
We will offer you a financial compensation package made up of:
· a lump-sum payment of £4,700 (if you have lived in your home for over a year)
· furniture removal costs (we can also arrange this for you), and
· the cost of other reasonable expenses as a result of this move.
Individual support
We would like to visit you to talk through your individual moving options and answer any more questions you may have. We can offer you an appointment on Friday 19 July or Monday 22 July. You are very welcome to have a relative or friend present. If you have not already booked an appointment, please contact Carolyn Poynter, Jill Povall or myself, so that we can make specific arrangements for you. We can also arrange an alternative appointment if necessary.
Finally, I would like to reassure you that we will continue to manage the building and shared areas as usual, until we have been able to help rehouse all residents.
