Job Description Summary: (Purpose and Scope)

Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Public Relations (PR) and Marketing Manager will communicate and promote the activities and successes of An Achievable Dream to all of its constituents and the media. The PR and Marketing Manager will guide the strategy for all communications, website, and public relations messages and collateral to consistently articulate An Achievable Dream’s (AAD) mission. The PR and Marketing Manager will be viewed as the primary disseminator and conduit of information within a diverse network, constituent and stakeholder base.

The PR and Marketing Manager will work closely with the senior peer group within the organization as the “communications partner” on a variety of strategic initiatives as well as special events and school activities.

Under the direction of the CEO and the Vice President of Development will assist with managing special events, including strategic development; coordinating logistics; facilitating volunteer leadership; developing and managing mailing lists and mailings; producing event materials, including invitations, that incorporate our mission with emphasis on high standards, attention to detail and appearance; coordinating with outside vendors; assisting with contract negotiations; supervising and coordinating the activities of personnel hired to support events; identifying potential conflicts; identify all aspects of event risk assessment and crisis management strategies

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· general public relations and communications activities

· develop, implement and evaluate the communications components of the overall annual Development Operating Plan in collaboration with the AAD team and constituents

· coordinate webpage maintenance to ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories and events) is posted regularly and in a timely manner

· lead the website’s online content that engages constituents that leads to measurable outcomes (i.e. online donations, social networking and engagement of sponsors and prospective donors)

· maintain AAD’s presence on Facebook for An Achievable Dream page

· manage the development, distribution and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including newsletters, e-newsletters, case statements, annual reports, brochures and other materials that promote successes of AAD to constituents to include creating the editorial budget, gathering information and photographs, writing, working with designers and making arrangements for printing and mailing.

· support activities at all An Achievable Dream schools, the corporate office and board meetings

· manage the speakers for AAD and MHS

· manage all media contacts, and strategically generate local, regional and national publicity about An Achievable Dream, its activities and growth

· write and distribute press releases

· work with the CEO, VP of Development and other staff members of AAD to collaboratively plan high quality events; and will ensure that high standards and AAD priorities are reflected in the planning and presentation of events.

· work with CEO, VP of Development and AAD team to design materials, printing and mailing of invitations, correspondence, signage, programs, etc. associated with events.

· coordinator of all tennis ball auction items

· develop and implement media plans for all special events

· manage media sponsorships

Qualifications:

An accomplished PR and Marketing Manager who has at least 6-10 years of PR and marketing experience, ideally covering areas such as donor communications, website content, and newsletters. The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages, and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels is critical.

· Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies

· Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills

· A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently

· Relationship builder and team player, understanding the complexities and flexibility that must go with an organization of AAD’s size and mission

· High energy and maturity with the ability to serve as a “message unifier” and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels.

· Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, students and families, and other supporters

· Self-starter, able to work independently; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.

Will also possess experience with special events to include a leadership role in production of high quality events.

Ability to develop professional relationships in all aspects of the position that result in stable, consistent, reliable and courteous communication when dealing with other organizations.

Ability to problem solve and work independently in a changing and multi-tasking environment with numerous deadlines.

Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision

Education:

Position requires a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, English or related field plus with between 6 and 10 years progressive experience in public relations, marketing and special events.

Technical Skills:

· Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

· Work requires occasional nights and weekends.

Physical Effort:

· Limited physical effort required.

· Very limited exposure to physical risk.
