POSITION TITLE: SENIOR DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT/CORPORATE REALTIONS:
REPORTS TO: Regional Vice President of Development
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Bachelor Degree from an accredited college/university in a related field or equivalent, planning, marketing or management experience. Minimum of five years experience in raising income through corporate relations, cause-related marketing and corporate sponsorships. Experience in a not-for-profit organization in a fundraising role is recommended.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Ability to interact effectively with people and communicate verbally and in writing.
· Must possess excellent writing skills and public presentation capabilities for both small and large groups.
· Proven performer in administration and management of staff and volunteers, be able to recruit and motivate volunteers and professionals from all disciplines, and have an aptitude for working independently and cooperatively.
· Operating knowledge of the budgeting process, fund-raising and public relations operations.
· Able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
· Knowledge of the mission and function of Special Olympics New York, including sports training and athletic competition programs.
· General computer proficiency and competence with Microsoft Office Suite.
· Strong knowledge of the NYC Market
· Ability to plan and execute digital marketing and social media plan
· Must have proven record of successfully securing corporate sponsorships, partnerships or philanthropy.
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for implementing and managing a comprehensive and proactive development plan focused on expanding corporate support. Collaborate with staff in respective markets to increase visibility and public awareness of Special Olympics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide strategic direction and oversight of relationships with corporate donors and potential donors.
· Prospect, solicit, build new relationships, and cultivate and steward current corporate partners. Maintain a rigorous schedule of contacts with corporate partners, complete with compelling presentations. Ensure that activation strategies and reporting requirements are met to sustain successful relationships.
· Cultivate and maintain a positive rapport and open lines of communication with individuals who can assist Special Olympics New York, Inc. in reaching our fund raising goals and objectives.
· Recruit and train corporate volunteers for participation on specific fund‑raising events and projects.
· Assist in the research and development of grant proposals for foundation support.
· Identify, define and acquire funding resources available to SONY. Develop cause‑related and sports marketing proposals for commercial enterprises.
· Assist in the annual giving programs.
· Prepare regular and/or special reports as directed by the Regional Vice President.
In addition to the responsibilities identified above, may be requested or required to perform other duties and/or responsibilities, by management on a non regular basis.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires working both standing and sitting. Must be able to lift and carry light loads (5-30 pounds for short distances).
FLEXIBLE HOURS: Frequent travel within the region assigned. Weekend/evening duties are required.
