·  Define, discuss, and provide examples of the associative, commutative, and identity property of addition.
·  Provide several examples of each.
·  Using Harcourt textbook pages 68-69, do numbers 2-26 together.
·  Emphasize the differences between the three properties.
·  Show when the properties should be used and why we use them.
·  Assign Harcourt workbook page PW 17. / Teacher observation
Day 2
·  Review all three properties of addition.
·  Focus on the “break-apart” method using the associative property and using the commutative property to make adding numbers easier.
·  Using Envision textbook pages 28-30, do numbers 1-27 together in class.
·  Assign Envision workbook pages 35-36 for homework/seatwork. / Teacher observation
Day 3
·  Define, discuss, and provide examples of the identity, zero, commutative, and associative properties of multiplication.
·  Provide several examples of each.
·  Have class create examples of each.
·  Use Harcourt textbook pages 174-175 numbers 2-34 as examples to teach class how to identify which of the properties is being used.
·  Assign Harcourt workbook page PW 42. / Teacher observation
