School Site Council Meeting Minutes
August 28, 2013
3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
I. Meeting called to order at 3:17 p.m.
II. Welcome – Greg Anderson
a. Mr. Greg Anderson welcomed all and briefly spoke about the purpose of School Site Council. He indicated that he would go into more detail at the next meeting as well as review it at the next staff meeting.
b. Mr. Anderson proceeded to review how the voting will be done as well as the ratio of staff members to parents and students. Staff voting will take place at the staff meeting on September 3, 2013. Parents and students will be recruited at Back to School Night on Thursday, September 5, 2013 with voting accordingly.
III. Principal’s Update
a. Mr. Jeremy Goins welcomed all thanked them for taking time to make the meeting.
b. Mr. Goins reviewed ERHS’s API and was proud to reveal that it had gone up even further than previously announced – 819! ERHS AP pass rates were the highest in the district. An area for growth will be the amount taking the AP tests. ERHS is currently 3rd in this area.
c. Mr. Goins discussed the 2013-14 SCE/EL budgets. He explained that the SCE funds are being used this year by the district office and that we would only have the carryover from the 2012-13 school year to work with. The EL budget has been reduced this year as well.
d. Back to School Night will be September 5, 2013. Beginning with a college fair from 4:30 to 6:30. The counseling center will be offering grade presentations, followed by the Principal’s address. From there the parents will be able to visit with their students teachers briefly.
IV. Calendar Dates
a. Mr. Goins discussed the need to change the meetings for the 2013-14 school years from Tuesday to Thursday. This would accommodate other previously scheduled meeting that may conflict.
