THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR YOU! Anger management training is a must for anyone working with at-risk or troubled children. Each year there are thousands of new students entering public school systems with problems of anger, self-contempt, and character disorders. These children have been victimized psychologically and emotionally. Teachers and other professionals need to understand that these students’ negative behavior exists within the context of their anger. The truth is that they have been very strongly motivated by their circumstances to fail in life. Teachers, counselors, and other professionals cannot intervene and effectively deal with such students unless they have competence in the areas of character building and anger management.

About the Speaker:

Leonard Ingram has been doing individual and group counseling encompassing a wide spectrum of therapies for over thirty years. He is the founder of The Anger Institute of Chicago and conducts hundreds of training workshops for teachers, parents, students, guidance counselors, school psychologists, principals, and other education professionals. Mr. Ingram is certified in Adlerian Anger Therapy and received training from nationally renowned anger expert Dr. Mitchell Messers, founder and director of the Anger Clinic. He is a consultant for the Chicago Board of Education and has conducted numerous training workshops for the Chicago Police Department, the Illinois Department of Corrections and various non-profit organizations.

Workshop objectives:

Identify euphemisms for anger which conceals the real problem and learn how to replace them with appropriate and effective terminology.

Understand anger as an “emotional” response to a grievance whether real or “imagined”.

How to identify and replace students inappropriate methods of managing their anger AT OTHERS with more appropriate and effective methods.

Teach students how to effectively handle their “ABSTRACT ANGER” at “Life”, Racism, sexism, “the system”.

Teach students how to manage their anger at themselves in an appropriate and psychologically healthy way.

Understand the correlation between mis-managed anger and self-destructive behavior such as alcoholism, drug abuse and other addictive behavior.

How to transform self-contempt into self-respect through use of validation homework.

How to manage your own anger as a prerequisite to managing the anger of students.

Understand the difference between “self-respect” and “self-esteem”.
