JOB DESCRIPTION – Casual Ice Steward

Reports to:Ice Rink Manager

Salary:£6.70 per hour plus holiday pay

SUMMARY OF ROLE

To ensure customers using the Ice Rink have a great experience every time they use it by delivering excellent customer service, maintaining the highest possible safety standards and generally supervising the ice skaters. Ice Stewards provide a point of contact for customers providing information, selling tickets and helping to maintain a safe environment.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To book and sell tickets to all skaters using the Ice Rink.
  1. To provide information and advice on sessions, prices and ice skating to all skaters using the Ice Rink.
  1. To deliver a great customer experience every time a customer uses the Ice Rink.
  1. To maintain high standards of health and safety within the Ice Rink.
  1. To be fully conversant with the Safety Operating Procedures of the Ice Rink.
  1. To work within, and understand, the company’s Policies and Procedures including Health and Safety and Cash Handling Policies.

PRINCIPAL TASKS

  1. To be a competent ice skater,allowing you to assist customers when required.
  1. To attend an induction and then regular ongoing training and meetings to demonstrate your competence as an Ice Steward.
  1. To deliver excellent customer service at all times and undertake tasks such as booking and selling tickets, exchanging shoes for ice skates and stewarding the Ice Rink.
  1. To steward the Ice Rink in line with safety operating procedures, supervise the ice skaters and react to any situations that may occur.
  1. To steward the ticketing desk, booking and selling tickets, providing general information relating to the Ice Rink and selling merchandise.
  1. To be responsible for handling cash in line with the company’s Cash Handling Procedure.
  1. To carry out agreed safety checks of the Ice Rink in line with risk assessments, including checking the surface and depth of the ice and the cleanliness of other Ice Rink areas.
  1. To handle accidents should they occur in the Ice Rink area, providing First Aid if needed and calling for assistance when necessary.
  1. To, when fully trained and competent, help the team maintain the ice skates, equipment and ice by using recognised safe systems of work.
  1. To promote Plymouth Pavilions to members of the public and be fully aware of the services and facilities on offer.
  1. To actively participate, when possible, in the progression and development of the Ice Rink.
  1. To maintain a positive attitude and high level of punctuality, for and during work.
  1. To be proactive and undertake all administrative duties with care and in accordance with Operating Procedures.
  1. To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Ice Rink Manager or the Ice Rink Duty Managers which are commensurate with the general character of the post.
