8th grade Agenda for the Week of 1/30 – 2/3 and 2/6 – 2/10

Assignments duesoon:

  1. The clauses test will be administered on Tuesday, 1/31.
  2. The final Fahrenheit 451 assignment (a summary of pages 150-165) is due Wed., 2/1.
  3. The outline of a Fahrenheit 451 essay is due Fri., 2/3 or before class on Mon., 2/6 for full credit.
  4. The Lesson 10 vocabulary exercises are due Wednesday, 2/8.
  5. Please share the final draft of your Fahrenheit 451 essay with me by Friday, 2/10.
  6. The preface questions to Animal Farm are due before class on Tues., 2/14 for full credit.
  7. Lessons 9-10 vocab review exercises, all problems, are due Wed., 2/15.
  8. Students will take the Lessons 9-10 vocab quiz on Thurs., 2/16.

Monday, 1/30

  1. Students will practice for tomorrow’s clauses test by analyzing four sentences.
  2. Students will check answers to the Lesson 9 vocab exercises (due today).
  3. Students will work on a summary of pages 150-165 of Fahrenheit 451, which is due in two days (Wed., 2/1).

  1. Students will take the clauses test today and will then work on their summary of pages 150-165 of Fahrenheit 451, which is due no tomorrow for full credit. Please share your summary with me on Google Drive.

  2. Students will begin working on the outline of a final Fahrenheit 451 essay in the 7th grade computer lab.

  1. Students will work on the outline of a final Fahrenheit 451 essay in the North computer lab. Please share your outline with me by the end of the day today if possible. If you don’t finish, please share your outline with me before class begins on Monday.

  1. Students will work on a Fahrenheit 451 essay in the 7th grade computer lab.
  2. Some of you still need to share your outline with me. Please do so within the first 15 minutes of class if you want full credit.

  4. There’s no class tomorrow because of the field trip.

Thursday, 2/9

  1. Mr. Wenz will pass back the clauses test; students will check their answers.
  2. Students will check out a copy of Animal Farm in the library today. Turn in your Fahrenheit 451 book while you are in the library if you have finished your essay; if you have not, you can turn the book in later as you’ll need the book to properly cite textual evidence.
  3. Students will read the preface to Animal Farm in class today and will then work on the preface questions in their groups.
  4. Homework due tomorrow: a final draft of an essay on Fahrenheit 451.

Friday, 2/9

  1. Homework due today: the final draft of an essay on Fahrenheit 451.
  2. Students will work on the preface questions to Animal Farm in class today with their groups; these questions are due no later than Tuesday before class begins.

Monday, 2/13

  1. Students will learn the concept of four-tiered analyses today and will work on a few four-tiered analyses with their group mates.
  2. Students will also finish the preface questions to Animal Farm with their group mates and will submit their answers no later than tomorrow before class begins.
  3. Homework due Wednesday: Lessons 9-10 vocab review exercises, all problems. Students will take a quiz on these lessons on Thursday of this week.
