1.Introduction

1.1Purpose

This document describes the methods employed to protect the job site during the various phases of construction.

1.2Scope

The procedure applies to products and components maintained on the site, the facility at its various stages of completion and final output prepared for turnover to the Owner.

1.3Responsibilities

Project Manager

  • Ensures that theSuperintendent is aware of their responsibility with regards to this and other related procedures, and arranges for the provision of resources to support the procedures.
  • Ensures requirements for handling, storage, preservation and delivery of products and components set out in the contract are identified, understood and applied.
  • Obtains and reviews pre-blast, excavation, demolition and construction surveys of existing or adjacent properties or facilities as required by project specifications or deemed necessary.

Superintendent

  • Responsible for ensuring all employees working on site are aware of their responsibility with regards to the handling, storage and preservation of supplies maintained on site, as well as controls to protect the integrity of the project and its component parts.
  • Implements site security procedures as determined necessary.
  • Maintains Superintendent’s Daily Construction Report (SQF 100)to document actions and relatedconditions.

Employees

  • Exercise appropriate controls as stated in specifications and/or provided by the Superintendent.

Job Site

The physical area as defined by contract documents in which M. Sullivan & Son Limited work activities take place.

2.Procedure

2.1handling & Preservation

  • The Project Manager along with the Superintendent are responsible for determining special processes that may be required to ensure actions are consistent with the expectations of the Owner, the required outcome of the project, andProject Control (QPM 8.5.1) Procedure 2.2, Special Processes.
  • Where special environmental conditions including temperature and humidity may be a factor, appropriate controls will be exercised and documented as required bythe project specifications.
  • For equipmentor existing items requiring special handling, the Superintendent will ensure that operation and verification of good working condition is undertaken by a competent person.

2.2storage

  • Equipment, material and existing items are to be stored in accordance with contract documents and product data sheets until incorporated into the project.
  • Measures for the control of storage and handling to be such as to guard against abuse, misuse, damage, deterioration or loss.Security will be arranged as necessary.
  • The Superintendent is to monitor storage areas and the integrity of items being stored. Deficiencies and corrective action to be documented in the Superintendent’s Daily Construction Report(SQF 100).

2.3DELIVERY

  • Procedures for turnover of the project will be consistent with the contract or specification as established with the Owner.Consultants Review and DeficiencyList will serve as a record of actions required and undertaken.
  • Post delivery activities are determined by a review of:
  • The Contract
  • Risks associated with commissioning
  • The use of the facility
  • Customer Feedback
