I.New Students Profile
As mentioned in the first Quarterly Report the same 17 students are continuing in the course. 3 more students are selected through Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mylapore, to replace the dropouts. We have attached the complete details of these students in Annexure 1.
These 3 students were given full Theory classes in the classroom and placed in the Hospitals for Clinical Experience.
II.Teaching Program
Basing on BSS Syllabus Theory and Demonstration classes are being continued during weekly classroom sessions. The students are continued to have their Practical Experience in the Hospitals. The syllabus covered for this 2nd quarter is mentioned in Annexure II.
The Guest Lectures were arranged in our Class Room, through faculties from various other fields to enhance the student’s knowledge. The details of faculty, subject with photos are available in Annexure III.
III.Methods of Evaluation
1. Evaluation is being done continuously in the Class Room and in Clinical Areas.
Grades are awarded at the end of December and before the Final Exam.
Class Room Evaluation is based on the following:
Class Room Written Test in all the subjects
Submission of Records
Active participation in activities like Presentation, Discussions and Demonstration.
The Evaluation is done and marks are given by our Nursing Teachers in three headings such as
Theory
Practical
Internal Evaluation
All the three are calculated for 100 and the students are awarded grades.
2. Clinical Area Evaluation:
The Clinical Area Evaluation is being done basing on the ability of the students to apply their knowledge while giving care to the patients. This on the job evaluation is being done by the Senior Nursing Staff of the Hospital and by our Nursing Teacher during their Clinical Visits.
Internal Marks are awarded by both of them basing on students Communication Skill, Behavior, Dress, Economy of Time and Resources etc.
Here again all the marks are calculated for 100 and the students are given Grades. The grades of the students are listed in Annexure IV.
IV. Extra Curricular Activities:
Cultural Competitions like Oratorical, Drawing, Dance, Vocal and Rangoli were conducted to all the three batch on the eve of the Graduation Ceremony of our First Batch – Two Years Diploma in Nursing Assistant students. The winners were given first, second and third prizes. Participation prizes were given to all the participants.
M. Arthy participated in Rangoli Competion
B. Suganya participated in Rangoli and Essay competition.
P. Kovsalya participated in Oratorical
V. Devayanai took part in Drawing and Rangoli competitions and got third prize in both.
Parent Teacher Meeting was arranged on 30th of Dec’09 from 2 to 4 pm. 75% of the parents attended the meeting. All the parents felt happy about our program. Two parents asked for change of Hospitals for their Daughters , as there was repair work in the Hospital Hostel. The students were shifted to other Hospital after informing the Hospital authorities.
