Conditions of Contest

1、Yeh Cup Mixed Teams/Mixed Pairs

The 2018YehCup Mixed Teams/Mixed Pairs will be held from Friday 18th to Sunday20thMay 2018 at Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

This tournament is hosted by theChinese Taipei Contract Bridge Association and staged by Kaohsiung Bridge Association.

2、Laws

The laws of duplicate contract bridge (revised 2017) will be used.
The official language of the tournament is English.

3、Entry Fees

Mixed Team:NTD6,000

Mixed Pair:Free for 2 pairs from each mixed team, new comer NTD 1,000

4、Tournament Format

1. Mixed Teams

The Mixed Teams consist of three stages:
Swiss qualifying, Knock-out stage, and Final/Play off.

A1Qualifying Stage：Friday 18 ~Saturday 19May

There are 10-round Swiss movementswith 10 boards per round.

The Draw:

Team number will be self-draw upon registration. For late teams, chief TD will draw for them.

The draw for matches 1 and 2 is pre-determined.
The draw for subsequent rounds will be Swiss, one round delayed.

Draw for round 1:

1v2、3v4、5v6、7v8、9v10、11v12、13v14、15v16、17v18、19v20、21v22、23v24、25v26

Draw for round 2:

1v14、2v15、3v16、4v17、5v18、6v19、7v20、8v21、9v22、10v23、11v24、12v25、13v26

The Qualified Teams:

The top 8 teams will advance to the Knock-out phase of the tournament.

The others are eliminated (the eliminated player can play Mixed pair free)

The top 3teams,in their finishing order,can choose from the 5th to 8th ranking teams.

The Carryover IMPs:

If the teams didn’t meet in qualifying stage, the carryover IMPs will be 1/2 IMP difference for higher ranking teams and 1/3 IMP difference for lower ranking team. Details as below:

For the teams met in qualifying stage:

(1)If the winner is the higher rank team, the team will carry over 1/2 of IMP difference

(2)If the winner is the lower rank team,the team will carry over 1/3 of the IMP difference

According to the WBF law, the maximum carryover is 1/4 of the number of the playing boards.The maximum carry over IMP will be 1/4 of the boards played, i.e. 16 boards KO 1 only take 4 IMPs, 20boards KO 2 (SF) take 5 IMPs, and 24 boards final take 6 IMPs the most.

A2Knockout Stage：Sunday 20 May

Knock out 1:16 boards (2 stanzas of 8 boards)

Knock out 2:20 boards (2 stanzas of 10 boards)

A3Final and Third-Place Playoff :Sunday 20 May

Final :24 boards (2 stanzas of 12 boards)

B. Mixed Pairs：Sunday 20 May

Non-qualifiers in the Mixed Teams and teams eliminated in knock-out 1 and 2 play in the Mixed Pairs will be free of charge.The new comers have to pay NTD 1,000

There are about 30~40 pairs with 2 pairs reserved for each competing Team.

Team captains are responsible for nomination of the pairs from their team for entry.

The nominations must be given to the Director prior to the start of the knock-out stage of the Mixed teams.

B1 Mixed Pairs Qualifying：

Sunday20 May, 09:00~13:00, 26 boards(2 boards×13 rounds)
with a Scrambled Mitchell movement.

Scoring is by IMPs.

The top 18 pairs advanced to mixed pair finalin the condition of reservation for the honor pairs (Mr. Yeh’sand Dr. Morris Chang’s pairs).

The others are eliminated.

B2 Mixed Pairs Final :

Sunday20 May, 14:10~18:10, 26 boards(2 boards×13 rounds)

with a Scrambled Mitchell movement.

Scoring is by IMPs.

The top 18 pairs (including honor pairs) together with 8 pairs of the eliminated teams from KO 2 will advance to the final, for a total of 26 pairs.

6、Rulings

The Tournament Director shall be summoned to a table as soon as attention is drawn to an irregularity.

After the Director has given the ruling, a request for review may be made.

7、Review following a Tournament Director's Ruling

7.1 General

The WBF Code of Practice is utilized by the Tournament Directors before any rulings are given, and such rulings are made in consultation with other Directors,senior players and other personnel as appropriate.

APBF General Conditions of Contest 22:

The code of Practice will apply Players should note the procedures which the Code calls upon them to adopt (as,for example,that they should randomize and make unpredictable the tempo of passing the tray)

7.2 Request for Review

A request for review of a Tournament Director's ruling must be lodged within 30 minutes of the first posting of the official score for the session in which the board was played that is the subject of the ruling.

All such requests must be lodged by the team's Captain or his designee

or by one member of the pair in a pair's events
