AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE ALMA MOTON OF GREENWOOD COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER NINETIETH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HERMUCH HAPPINESS IN THE DAYS AHEAD.

Whereas, on September 1, 2017, Alma Moton of Greenwood County awakened to the celebration of a milestone event, her ninetieth birthday; and

Whereas, born the daughter of Augusta and George Walton, Alma Moton entered this world on September 1, 1927; and

Whereas, in the fullness of time, she met Deacon J.B. Moton, and the two were wed in 1943, the Lord blessing the couple with a marriage that lasted sixtyseven years. Alma and her beloved J.B. (now deceased) became the joyful parents of thirteen children, Elizabeth, Vonceilla, Pastor Willie Clarence, Bishop Roosevelt, Pastor J.B., Jr., Pastor Yvonne, Mary Ruth, Elder William, Georgia, Suzanne, Charles, Deacon Patrick, and Deacon Odell. In turn, the Moton children have given their parents the pleasure of fiftyone grandchildren, seventytwo greatgrandchildren, and three greatgreatgrandchildren; and

Whereas, Alma Moton is a faithful member and supporter of Holy Redeemer Faith Church (Look Up and Live Ministries), where she is ordained as a missionary and Mother of the Church; and

Whereas, during her praiseworthy lifetime, this prayer warrior has dedicated herself to Christ and to the welfare and service of others by working faithfully with her husband in prayer meetings and in the nursing home ministry. She founded Mother Moton’s Monday Night Prayer and was faithful in showing others how to live godly lives. She was supportive of the Grendel community; and

Whereas, Alma Moton’s favorite song is “If You Can’t Help Me, Please Don’t Stop Me,” and her mostvalued quotation is “We should always live on Ready Street for the Lord”; and

Whereas, to honor her at this very special time in her life, family and friends joined with her to celebrate her ninetieth birthday on Saturday, September 16, 2017; and

Whereas, it is a great pleasure to honor this daughter of South Carolina on the recent celebration of herninetieth birthday and to join with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this important life milestone. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Alma Moton of Greenwood County on the occasion of her ninetieth birthday and wish hermuch happiness in the days ahead.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Alma Moton.
