Wednesday, February 5, Texas Roadhouse LaVille Elementary Night:

Our Texas Roadhouse gift cards were a huge success. We sold $23,720 in gift cards which earned our school $3,558 in profits. Thank you to everyone who bought a gift card or two. You will be able to use those gift cards on Wednesday, February 5th,at our LaVille Elementary give back night. This will be at the Texas Roadhouse on the south side of South Bend. Our school will receive 10% of all sales. You must have the attached coupon for our school to receive the 10%. Feel free to invite friends and family members to this special night. The more sales Texas Roadhouse gets, the more profit our school receives and that money goes directly to our student activities fund.

February 25 & 26 School Dentist will be at LaVille: The dates for the visit will be February 25th and 26th. The In-School DentistSmile programs can see students with Hoosier Healthwise, private insurance, or no insurance. Enrollment forms have been sent home with your child. To take advantage of this convenient opportunity and have your child see the dentist at school, please fill out and sign the enrollment form and return it to school with your child. If you have not received a form, please contact the office and ask for one to be sent home with your child.

Our first LaVille Elementary PTO Trivia Night

was a big triumph. The consensus from everyone who participated Friday night was that we should make this a yearly event. It was great to see so many teams cheering for their team, laughing, and having a great time. It’s nice to know we can have an adult event like this and everyone can have fun, but stay safe. We had some competitive teams, but in the end, Cox’s Army took home 1st place! Congratulations to them and a big thanks, because then they turned around and donated half of their prize money back to the PTO. Miss Slomski would especially like to recognize and thank the following individuals who helped make this event run so smoothly: LaVille Elementary PTO for taking the chance to sponsor (organize and plan) this event. Larry Moore from Larry’s Field of Dreams for donating his residence to house this event, Greg Carroll from WSBT for emceeing and working the room for this event, Heidi Walker for selling pizza all evening, Juan Botello from Don Juan Cantina and Grill who made all the adult beverages, Pam Whitaker for running the raffle prizes, Heads and Tails, and 50/50, Monae Geer for selling raffle and 50/50 tickets, Melissa Duerksen for being a scorer and selling refreshments, Chris Slomski for being a scorer and who won the 50/50 drawing and donated half of his winnings back, Anna Slomski for selling Mulligans and distributing materials for different rounds, Scott Flynn for getting the crowd’s attention and announcing the winning ticket numbers, Mr. Shirley for updating the teams’ scores and hauling in tables and chairs, and Tony Garrett for hauling in tables, chairs, and all the other necessities we needed for this event. We would like to thank the following business who donated prizes for our raffles: John from Meijer’s, Patrick from Applebee’s, David from Ho Ping Chinese Restaurant, Swan Lake Golf Course and Restaurant, Alex from Hacienda, Mark from South Bend Chocolate, and Texas Roadhouse. All of these prizes helped make our trivia night an entertaining event. Last but not least, we want to thank all the teams who participated in this event. Each of you helped make this first time event memorable and fun!

What a school year…water problems, heavy snow, dangerous wind-chills, and roads drifted shut! We try to teach our students not to hate, and I don’t mean to be a hypocrite, but I think I may hate the winter of 2013-2014. It’s probably nicer and maybe more accurate just to say I will always remember the winter of 2013-2014

As you can see we have nine attachments to this newsletter so I did not include pictures of the award winners, just the list of winners etc. But all the award winners’ pictures have been printed and are in the front hallway at school.

With all the attachments don’t forget to check out the February calendar on the next page. It’s a busy week next week, I would hate for you to miss anything.
