In 2013 the following awards were made at our Cardiff Conference

Incredible Parent Group Leaders

Pam McCloy, Health Visitor and Sue Lee, Project Worker, Cwmbran ICC.

Nominated by Yvonne Hayes, Multi-Agency Parenting Coordinator, Torfaen CBC.

Sue and Pam have been responsible for piloting, reviewing and implementing the IY Baby programme in Torfaen. They have done a fantastic job – showing professionalism at all times and a really caring attitude to the parents in Flying Start. They are a great team and a great example of collaborative working across agencies. Their enthusiasm has spread throughout the team with other staff being excited to run the IY Baby programme also. They have been real pioneers in Torfaen – a great example and standard for others to follow.

Incredible Parenting Coordinator

Gail Bennett, Flintshire Parenting Strategy Coordinator.

Nominated by Gill Harrison, Early Years and Family Support Services, Flintshire.

Gail is an outstanding professional who, as Flintshire Parenting Strategy Coordinator, is responsible for the promotion and development of parenting support across the county. She has worked hard to establish the IY programmes in Flintshire, including a major rollout of the School Readiness Parent programme. At a local level she ensures training opportunities are provided and taken up, and also that delivery is meeting the fidelity standards required. She has worked tirelessly to identify and capture funds to support the IY programmes and recognises the benefits of the integration of the Parent, Child and Teacher programmes which have taken place in Pen Coch Specialist Primary School, now a model IY school. At a national level she has worked to promote evidence based parenting through her work as Chair of the All Wales Parenting Strategy Group.

Incredible Team Leader

Dr Sue Evans, Consultant Child Psychologist, Powys Teaching Health Board.

Nominated by Professor Judy Hutchings, School of Psychology, Bangor University.

Sue was appointed as a Consultant Child Psychologist in 2005 to lead the development of the IY programmes in Powys. Since that time we have benefited from her incredible collaborative skills in getting managers and service providers on board. This was recognised in relation to the IY Project in Powys, which includes the Parent, Child and Teacher programmes which is now a county-wide strategy. As a result of Sue’s leadership, and collaborative working across agencies, the programmes are widely delivered across the county and group leaders have contributed to many of our research trials. This work was recently recognised in an NHS award to Powys for working seamlessly across agencies for their work using the IY Parent, Child and Teacher programmes. Sue holds an Honorary Lectureship at Bangor University and has delivered training and supervision across Wales as well as supporting parenting trials in Birmingham, Nottingham and Stoke and supported the Pathfinder Early Intervention project in Telford. Sue is an Incredible Collaborator.
