A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING THE ACADEMIC PROWESS AND ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT OF THE STUDENTS OF WHITE KNOLL HIGH SCHOOL IN LEXINGTON COUNTY WHO RECEIVED STATEWIDE DECA AWARDS IN MARKETING COMPETITION IN CHARLESTON RECENTLY, AND WISHING THEM AND THEIR TEACHER AND ADVISOR, CARL VADASZ, WELL AS THEY COMPETE ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL APRIL 2528, 2001, IN ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA.

Whereas, White Knoll High School in Lexington County boasts a successful marketing, management, and entrepreneurial DECA program, led by twentyyear veteran teacher and advisor, Carl Vadasz; and

Whereas, the DECA students participated in marketing competitions recently in Charleston, where they captured five first places, three second places, and two fourth places in statewide competition; and

Whereas, these students and the DECA program have brought honor to themselves, their school, and the State; and

Whereas, all the winners, the DECA program, and Mr. Vadasz have earned the deep respect of the citizens of this State; and

Whereas, the winners and their areas are: First Place Winners: Sam Wellborn, Retail Marketing; Cory Swindler, Financial Services; Tommy Ritter, Financial Services; Michelle Kyser, Food Marketing; and Karen Henderson, Travel and Tourism Marketing; Second Place Winners: Stephanie Lee, Hospitality Management; Traci Kaiser, Hospitality Management; and Melissa Martin, Business Services; and Fourth Place Winners: Candace Brooks, Food Marketing; and Felisha Johnson, Apparel and Accessories Marketing; and

Whereas, the first and second place winners have the extraordinary opportunity April 2528 in Anaheim, California, to further distinguish themselves in the spotlight of national competition and we wish them well. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly recognize the academic prowess and entrepreneurial spirit of the students of White Knoll High School in Lexington County who received statewide DECA awards in marketing competition in Charleston recently, and wish them and their teacher and advisor, Carl Vadasz, well as they compete on the national level April 2528, 2001, in Anaheim, California.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Carl Vadasz and the DECA students.
