The SmallBusinessDevelopmentCenter offers many valuable services to business owners, including educational workshops, assistance with applying for financing and business consulting with a qualified business expert at no charge. Areas of expertise include, but are not limited to:

BUSINESS PLANNING– Research, preparation, development, and review.

FINANCIAL– Financial statement development, analysis, strategy, capital needs, and cash flow management.

HUMAN RESOURCES – Recruitment and staffing, employee relations, organizational learning, performance management, and compensation and benefits.

LEGAL – Incorporation, corporate structures, by-laws, leases/contract, intellectual property, and employment law.

MARKETING– Business development, target market identification, branding/positioning, pricing, and distribution.

PROCUREMENT – Government contracting (federal, state, and local as well as how to sell to large corporations), proposal preparation, responding to RFPs, negotiation, and contract management. California Construction Contracting Program partnership between Caltrans.

►Kevin Farmer’s expertise includes QuickBooks and small business accounting, bookkeeping, and general business training activities.

Dr. Daniel Hancuffis the attorney on staff and his expertise includes, but is not limited to, business formations for profit, corporate structures, review of contracts, review of lease agreements for commercial space, intellectual property, business dissolutions, and general business legal consultation for new start up businesses.

►Robert Hobbs expertise includes California Construction Contracting Program partnership between Caltrans,California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and SmallBusinessDevelopmentCenters. Construction contracting and building relationships with programs.

Nathaniel Jemison expertise includes business start-up, business plans and loan packaging assistance.
