1. JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE PERSON (OFF SITE)

2. ORGANISATION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Department: Site Services

Reports to: Maintenance Co-ordinator

Liaises with: Residential Managers

3. MAIN ROLE:

To work within the maintenance team to provide a reliable, responsive and effective maintenance service in accordance with organisation policy, procedures and legislation. This role is to cover our residences in Gloucester and Cheltenham.

4.  RESPONSBILITIES:

4.1 Undertake day to day repairs to the fabric of the college buildings.

4.2 Implementation of maintenance work requests as directed by Maintenance Co-ordinator

4.3 Implementation of small works projects, planned preventative maintenance to painting, gutters, light cleaning, extract fans, drains and roofs and other fabric of the college.

4.4 Carry out upgrading works on scheduled projects.

4.5 Liaise with College Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Engineer on projects.

4.6 Support with general porterage, furniture moving / Office relocation as required.

4.7 Drive the Estates vehicles as required ensuring correct procedures in line with College policies are adhered to.

4.8 May on occasion be required to cover ‘on call’ over evenings, weekends and bank holidays

4.9 Willing to travel between all our sites within a 2 hour radius

4.9  Undertake College mandatory and other training relevant to the role.

4.10  Assist with other duties when required by Maintenance Co-ordinator, Head of Building and Site Services or Director of Estates, facilities & Sustainability. Supporting the whole department, Caretakers, Gardens and Maintenance.

ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
Qualifications:
A good general standard of education –Craft / Technical / Professional qualification / NVQ in a building/construction trade
First Aid
Working at Height
Asbestos awareness
PASMA & IPAF
Manual Handling
Mechanical qualification
IT Literate
Experience:
Skill or Trade in the building Industry
Current knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation / Carpentry skills
Knowledge in Plumbing and Electrics
Skills & Attributes:
Good verbal communication
Able to problem solve
Excellent interpersonal skills
Customer focus – able to demonstrate a commitment to achieving high levels of customer satisfaction
