1.Job Title:Ground Security Operative (GSO)

2.Location:Inverness

3.Reports to:Ground Security Supervisor (GSS)

4.Job Purpose:To ensure that no prohibited item, vehicle or person enters the Critical Part (CP) at the Airport.

5.Job Content - Main Responsibilities

1.Operation and testing of x-ray equipment in accordance with current regulations.

2.Operation and testing of Advanced Walk through Metal Detector (AWTMD).

3.Operation and testing of Hand Held Metal Detectors (HHMD).

4.Operation and testing of Liquid Explosive Detection equipment.

5.Conducting body searches using the correct technique.

6.Perform hand searches of hold and cabin baggage using the correct technique.

7.Reporting any suspicious, prohibited or dangerous items immediately to the supervisor.

8.Providing support, as required, to the supervisor in any unusual circumstances.

9.Manning the Vehicle Check Point as required.

10.Routine patrols of internal and external areas as directed.

11.Policing of Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) regulations.

12.Completion and maintenance of current incident reporting procedures as required.

13.Assisting passengers and customers of the Airport with any security related queries.

14.Other extraneous duties as advised by the GSS or Airport Manager.

Military aviation experience
Previous experience in a customer service environment

Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to influence members of the travelling public positively through reason, logic and persuasion
Able to pass the Company medical which includes a vision test including colour perception and acuity2

1 & 2 - Any offer of employment is conditional upon a satisfactory Standard Disclosure check being obtained and a satisfactory pre-employment medical being achieved.

In addition to the aboveit is essential that you are able to:

1. Satisfactorily complete the Ground Security Operative initial training course which takes place over a 10 day period based in Inverness.

2. Obtain a satisfactory Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) prior to commencing employment.

3. Provide full details of employment, education and training for the preceding 5 years without any gaps exceeding 28 days.

4. Provide a Criminal Records Check for the relevant country at interview stage if you have lived out with the UK for 6 months or more during the previous 5 years.
